Just a few pics from Claudia's First Holy Communion last Sunday. Better late than never!

Has another week flown by already? Beate has put up this weekends sketch and I managed to find some time to sit down and play around. I got this cute new stamp set yesterday and so I had to use it of course! (not that I needed an excuse).

Supplies (all Stampin' Up!): Like It A Latte Stamp Set, Berry Bliss Designer Paper, Card in whisper white, close to cocoa and pretty in pink, Ink in close to cocoa. Misc: Glitter, pop dots and the good old Janome Mini Sew - again!

Well before we jump into the big weekend ahead, I found some time to do this week's sketch challenge.
Claudia makes her First Holy Communion on Sunday so there is a bit of work to do to get organised before then. And Maddie has netball on Saturday. It looks like rain, but I hope it holds off until after the game.
Gerard and I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie today. It was pretty good, if you're an Indie fan. A pretty far fetched plot but the special effects were great. And to be honest, it was just nice to get out together for a change!
Since it's after midnight, I am off to bed. Have a great weekend!

Supplies: Cardstock: Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. Paper by My Minds Eye. Choc Chip Ribbon by Stampin'Up! Brown thread and Chocolate Chip Ink.

WSC48 and a layout

With Gerard still away, the girls had a friend sleepover and I had two friends (Leonie and Kim) come over for a bit of stamping/scrapping fun :) After my friends left at around midnight, I finally growled enough to get the girls off to sleep after 1am!! So I am a bit tired today. I did manage however to do one whole layout (my first in a long time!) and stamped and coloured some images ready to put together some quick cards, hopefully today. I hear you say 'only one layout?' but hey, there was lots of talking to be done and lots of chocolate to be eaten!!

So after a sluggish start to the day I think I will put some washing on and go back to my room and finish off those cards. In the meantime, here is what I accomplished yesterday.

Supplies: All cardstock and paper from Stampin'Up! Card in soft sky, purely pomegranate and whisper white. DP is Western Sky and Rose Red DP. Misc: ribbon, buttons, flower punch, janome mini sew, cuttlebug alpha.

This card was for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge, and this design really proved to be a challenge for me, but I am pretty happy with what I ended up making.

Supplies: Card: rose red, whisper white, and Rose Red Designer Paper. Stamps: Sanded background, SU Rub Ons for the sentiment and just flowers and eyelets to finish off.

I love Gamsol!

Yesterday I got some fun (long awaited) parcels in the post. Including a couple of new stamps and some Gamsol. And if you have never heard of it, it is an odourless mineral spirits used for blending regular coloured pencils. It is amazing stuff! And I love the way it blends my images. Gives a beautiful watercoloured effect, without that buckling and wetness often associated with watercolours. This stuff really is fantastic!! so if you haven't tried it yet I would thoroughly recommend giving it a go. Even my girls had a wonderful time playing with it last night and produced some gorgeous work.
Anyway, here are the images I coloured using the gamsol. Oh, and I should mention that the colour is blended using paper stumps or even cotton tips will work.

Supplies: Card: Black, white and Orchid Opulence. Organza Ribbon, Ink: Orchid Opulence and basic black. Stamps by Penny Black and Stampin' Up! Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background (which I inked on the reverse side before running through the machine). Image coloured using Faber Castel Pencils and Gamsol.

Supplies: Card: Close to Cocoa, river rock textured card and white. Close to cocoa ribbon, Stamps by Inky Antics and Stampin' Up! Image coloured using Faber Castel Pencils and Gamsol. Stitching done in brown thread with my new Janome Mini Sew. This turtle is one of my new stamps - isn't he the cutest

Supplies: Card: Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White. Ink: Black and Wild Wasabi; Stamp by Inky Antics, Choc Chip ribbon, Word Window punch and brads, background done with the cuttlebug (same technique as above).

Swap Cards

I decided to use the card I did earlier for this weeks challenge sketch as inspiration for an embossing swap I am in. I chose dry embossing (rather than heat embossing) and just changed the colour scheme of the card and used a different stamp.

Supplies: Stampin'Up! card in pefect plum, pale plum, whisper white. Ink in perfect plum. Stamps: Riveting and so many scallops. Accessories: Brayer, cuttlebug, scallop and circle punches. Janome Mini Sew - again (having so much fun with this!).

Happy Mothers Day (and WSC47 take 2)

I hope all you wonderful mother's out there are having a wonderful day! My girls have spoiled me with breakfast in bed, and some wonderful presents including a 1 hour facial, cookbook, photo frame (with photo included), some Lindt balls and also the cutest magnetic shopping list for my fridge.

And since dh is away they have done it all themselves. To top it off, for afternoon tea Maddie is making some scones and we are going to have a little tea party.

As for this weekends sketch challenge, I was quite unhappy with yesterdays effort so have re-done it so that it matches the sketch more. So here is the second take on my card.

Supplies: Cardstock Stampin'Up! in blue bayou, whisper white and bashful blue. Ink in Blue Bayou. Stamp is from the Party Punch set. I did the background by using the cuttlebug to emboss and then went over it with a brayer rolled in blue bayou ink. Accessories: tab punch, scallop scissors, janome mini sew, ribbon, cuttlebug.

Yep, it's that time of the week again! Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge :) This is my first effort with this sketch but I think I will play around with it some more and see what else I can come up with as I was not very happy with this one. I don't have an oval cutting system, which made it a little hard. I am waiting on the Nestabilities sets but Papertray Ink are still out of stock, and I am trying to be patient but I may have to go and look elsewhere soon.

Oh and this was the very first time using my new little sewing machine - love it!!

Supplies: Cardstock Stampin'Up! in True Thyme and Perfect Plum; Paper is Basic Grey 'sugared'; Stamps are Stampin'Up! Love Ya Bunches and So Many Sayings. Accessories: Word Window Punch and Janome Mini Sew for the stitching :)

Check out my new toy!

Happy Mother's Day to me!
The fabric shop in our town is closing down and unfortunately there is not another one here! So I went in today to pick up a couple of things and saw this on the counter and just had to grab it. I have wanted one for a while to use for cards and on my layouts (my mum would be horrified!) and decided to get it while the getting was good. And what a perfect mother's day present to myself huh.

So you can expect to see lots of 'real' stitching on my cards and pages now, until I get sick of it. And who knows, I may even graduate to a grown up sewing machine one of these days (I can see you shaking your head Karisma, Iknow - I should be ashamed!) LOL

I can't believe another week has flown by already! Haven't been as productive craft wise as I would have liked this week, but things have been pretty hectic.

Maddie had her first netball game of the season today and she scored the most awesome goal from just inside the circle! Hubby is off again overseas on Wednesday - and I am sure he only just got back?? And I had a big de-cluttering of my craft room yesterday and took 5 boxes to store in the shed and 2 boxes to the tip. My room even 'feels' lighter now :) So I just have to find some time to get creative in it.

Oh and we booked tickets for my mother-in-law to come and stay for two weeks in the July school holidays, so we are all pretty excited about that :)

Anyway, here is my card this weekend's Sketch Challenge by Beate. I made this card for my friend Caroline's birthday, which is tomorrow. So just made it in time!

Supplies: Cardstock by Stampin'Up in So Saffron, Cranberry Crisp and Very Vanilla. Paper is basic grey 'Sugared'. Ink is Chocolate Chip by SU! and flowers are by Prima. Stamp set is Life Definitions also by SU!

Have a great weekend!
