Sometimes life just sucks!!

There is no other word for it ... well there is but I won't use it here as I don't want to offend anyone, but I'm sure you know what I mean.!

Yesterday I got a call from my best friend to tell me that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She will be travelling up to Perth tomorrow and will meet with a surgeon and then a plan of treatment will be put in place. At this point it will be immediate surgery followed by chemotherapy and possibly radiotherapy.

I was just devastated by this news and the scary thing was that she had no idea and could not (and still can't) feel the lump despite the fact it is over 3cms in diameter. It was picked up during a routine mammogram. This is the second friend I have had this happen to ... it is awful to think that it could be there and you just don't know it!

So ladies .... please be vigilant and if you haven't been checked in a while, please do it - NOW! It could save your life.

I will leave you with a pic of my gorgeous friend Kathleen and I, and if you could send lots of positive thoughts her way I know it would be much appreciated!

So sad. I've been thinking of you/Kathleen today wondering how her appointment with the specialist went? Hope you're feeling a little better today :o)

Thanks Patrice :) She is driving up tomorrow and her appointment with the surgeon is on Wednesday. So she may have surgery as early as Thursday or Friday.

Hi Jodene, I have visited your blog a few times - got the link from Stampin Connection. I love your work. Anyway, just wanted to say that is terrible news. My best friend was similar. She was diagnosed about 4 months ago. She is 34 years old with 3 girls (7yo, 5yo, 1yo). She has had a double masectomy and going through chemo as we speak. It is a long tough journey but with lots of support my friend is getting through and has a fairly good prognosis. It all happens very quickly - surgery, chemo etc. They don't really get a chance to take it all in properly. My friend was quite depressed for the first 5 weeks or so but she is in a better frame of mind now. Hang in there...its a tough journey but I'm sure with treatment, your friend will be ok.
Emma.
