Sometimes life just sucks!!

There is no other word for it ... well there is but I won't use it here as I don't want to offend anyone, but I'm sure you know what I mean.!

Yesterday I got a call from my best friend to tell me that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She will be travelling up to Perth tomorrow and will meet with a surgeon and then a plan of treatment will be put in place. At this point it will be immediate surgery followed by chemotherapy and possibly radiotherapy.

I was just devastated by this news and the scary thing was that she had no idea and could not (and still can't) feel the lump despite the fact it is over 3cms in diameter. It was picked up during a routine mammogram. This is the second friend I have had this happen to ... it is awful to think that it could be there and you just don't know it!

So ladies .... please be vigilant and if you haven't been checked in a while, please do it - NOW! It could save your life.

I will leave you with a pic of my gorgeous friend Kathleen and I, and if you could send lots of positive thoughts her way I know it would be much appreciated!

These things make me happy

I just love that everytime I walk in my front door I can smell these gorgeous oriental lillies. And I love that they are so HUGE!
I love it when I walk into a room and find my pretty fur-baby in the strangest of places. She always makes me smile :) Here she was getting cozy in Madison's guitar case yesterday.

A gift from my Secret Sister!

I am currently playing in my very first secret sister swap over on the Stampin' Up! in Oz yahoo group. It runs for three months and June is the first month. I was so excited today to receive my first parcel full of absolutely gorgeous handmade items!

And let me just say after the weekend I had, it was such a happy welcome surprise! So I just thought I would share with you all of the wonderful things I received.
This first box lifts open and was filled with delicious Chai Latte sachet's and some peach iced tea sachets, both of which I love!!
This little bag of yummy dove chocolates was finished off with a gorgeous top note die.
I also received this beautiful decorated 2 year planner that fits perfectly in my handbag :)
This next one is a covered lined notepad, and a matching bookmark.
I love this gorgeous little box filled with chocolates covered in matching DSP ... mmmmmm
And last but certainly not least, these are the two gorgeous cards I also received! All of these items were mading using taken with teal cardstock (my fave!) as well as paper from the Confetti Simply Scrappin Kit, and Petal Pizzaz, Heard from the Heart and Happy Harmony stamp sets.
Thankyou again to my Secret Sister ... I simply loved ALL of these gorgeous gifts.
Oh and if anybody knows where I can find those little chocolates that you can wrap and put into gift boxes I would love to know because I can't seem to locate them anywhere!

What I 've been doing (when I could have been stamping!)

This is just one of the projects that I have had on the go lately. We have so many little painting jobs and things to do around the house and I am slowly crossing them off. Here is one project that I have almost finished (I still have to paint the backs of these doors, but with visitors coming to stay this weekend I will leave it until they have gone home).
But let me just say ... all those little windows are NO fun to paint whatsoever!! So I won't be rushing to start the other side. LOL

This is the BEFORE pic ... our formal lounge at the front was open so we decided to add some doors so that we can shut it off from the rest of the house.
STEP 2 - Framework and some new wall is added.

STEP 3 - The doors are in!

And FINALLY today I finished painting them (well this side anyway!) lol

So that is why I haven't been able to get into my stamp room this week! I also painted another frame and door that we had added to our ensuite, but I will save those photos for another day :)

You can now find me on Facebook

I finally got around to completing the set up of my Facebook page, so feel free to visit me there if you like! You will find the link in my sidebar :)

And now after a full day of painting (not the fun kind, I am painting french doors, frames and skirtings at the moment) I am off to bed so I can awake feeling re-energised and ready to give them all another coat of paint!

Happy Stamping!

JAI Colour Challenge #22

Well at least I managed one card tonight! lol I loved this week's colour challenge over at Just Add Ink and decided to pull out a few old stamp sets for this one!
Supplies:
Stamps: Seeing Spots background stamp, Sweet Spot, Say it with scallops
Card: Whisper white, tempting turquoise, rich razzleberry, kiwi kiss
Ink: Kiwi kiss, rich razzleberry, tempting turqouise
Other: Silver hodgepodge, rich razzleberry ribbon, embossing folder, stitching

I just want to play!

Life has been so busy around here this past week that I have had no time to play with any of the challenges or do any stamping for the last five days. And I am having serious withdrawals! I do have a couple of hours tonight though, so I hope to do a couple of things before bed.

Why so busy you ask? Okay so you didn't probably ask but I will tell you anyway :) Aside from hubby being away most of this month and having to run the girls around, I have also started some more painting projects around the house, and am trying to get organised for when my mother-in-law arrives on Saturday for two weeks. Luckily hubby arrives home Monday morning too so it will really be a full house for the next few weeks with the girls going on school holidays next Friday!

Anyway, hopefully I will have something to share later (since I can't do anymore painting tonight).

Happy Stamping!

A few things to share

Just a quick post before I head off and start the mammoth task of cleaning my house ... why does it only take a couple of days to get so out of control?? It never ceases to amaze me.
The first two projects were ones I made yesterday at a stamping morning at Ngaire Anderson's house. I believe the box at the top was one that Bonnie Thurber made at convention and it fits a packet those little Tim Tam fingers perfectly ... if you can find them! This box was created using the magnetic movers and shakers in the Big Shot.
The second project is a card using the Manhattan Flower embossing folder, also for the big shot.
And my last card is a total case from Makeesha (about all I changed was the colour and the greeting stamp!) You can see Keesh's card here. Usually I change quite a bit up when I'm casing a card, but I just loved this one exactly as it was!
All products in all of these projects are from Stampin' Up!

Busy stamping ... but not much to post!

Well I have been busy working on lots of goodies for my secret sister swap, which I can't show you until she had received them all. Sorry! But here is a little sneak peak though of one of the gift cards I made. And this afternoon I am catching up on some RAK's that I owe so I will have something more to share then.

Oh and I also made a few projects at Ngaire Anderson's monthly card class this morning so I will share those later too :)

Until then, happy stamping!

World Cup Fever - Inkspiration Sketch #27

Aussie Aussie Aussie ... OI OI OI!!

I saw this adorable little 'Soccer Nut' digi stamp at Bugaboo Stamps and just had to make a little Aussie Soccer Nut with him in celebration of Australia's upcoming game against Germany in the 2010 World Cup.
I used Makeesha's sketch challenge for this week which you can find here. I have covered the little peanut in crystal effects and popped him up on dimenstionals, but it's hard to see in the photo. Supplies:
Cardstock: Worldwin cardstock, paper by DCWV.
Digi Image from Bugaboo Stamps
Misc: Brads and Hodge podge hardware by Stampin' Up! Prismacolour pencils, paper piercer, crystal effects.

Flower Fusion Magnets

I picked up these cute clip magnets today from Riot Art & Craft (there were 6 in a pack). The possibilities for decorating these are endless! Here are a couple I just did up in about 3 minutes ... too easy, gotta love that!

Another card

Well I had hoped to continue my roll from yesterday and get a lot more done today but I had to taxi my daughter around to the movies and then pick her up and do some errands in between so not as much time was spent at home as I would have liked. Oh well, I have two and a half hours before I have to take my other daughter to piano lessons so I will make the most of it and try and get at least one more card finished.

In the meantime, here is a quick card I did this morning. The image is a free digital image from Cathy at the Paper Garden projects blog. I love that I could resize it to fit nicely on my card. And I kept this one pretty simple and will put a sentiment on the inside instead of the front.
Supplies:
Cardstock: dusty durango, blue bayou and whisper white (all SU!)
Paper: Kaiser
Misc: Paper piercer and mat (SU!), ribbon in dusty durango (SU!), Quickutz embossing folder, prismacolour pencils, gamsol, crystal effects for the centre of the flower.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #72

Well while I was on a roll, I thought I would do this week's sketch challenge from Karen Giron. I decided to flip the sketch so that I could use the image I had just finished colouring, although I am thinking maybe I should have made my card a little bigger as it looks 'crowded' to me.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. Sending Love DSP by Stampin' Up!
Images: Digi stamp by Tiddly Inks, greeting from the Tiny Tags set by SU!
Misc: Pink satin ribbon (SU!), Circle punches, sewing machine, gemstones, and coloured with prismacolour pencils and gamsol.
