My Birthday

As I mentioned in my last post I had a birthday this week. Since hubby is away working in Africa, I spent the day with the girls and as was the last day of the school holidays I ditched work and we just got to hang out together.

It started with the girls climbing into bed with me in the morning to give me my presents. As their dad was away they did all the shopping, choosing, and wrapping themselves and I must say they did pretty well too! I got some really fun stuff for my iPhone & iPad, as well as an M&M gumball dispenser, chocolates and a voucher for a manicure.

I thought I would share a few pics from the day. Since I didn't have a camera with me these are all just instagram pics I took on the day.

We went to lunch at Hillary's Boat Harbour and shared a really yummy pizza at a place called Caesar's before moving over to San Churro Chocolatier for dessert.  Then we had to go home and just lay around so we could digest our food before heading out for dinner! lol

San Churro's for dessert

Dinner was at Hogsbreath Cafe and we had a lovely steak meal followed by the most ginormous dessert you could imagine! Even between the three of us we couldn't get it finished, this thing was like a huge fish bowl!  Here is a pic of the girls before we demolished it.

Before hubby went away for work we managed a couple of days away at a friends beach house. It was only just over an hour up the coast from home but it felt like we were another world away! It was lovely to have a break together and we did some fishing and paddle boating while we were there too as well as lots of relaxing. I even got to read a whole book, something I don't often get to do! So here are a couple of pics of our days at the beach house.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Birthday Cards

I had a birthday on Tuesday and was lucky enough to receive some gorgeous handmade cards from some of my dear stamping friends, and even my daughters made cards for me this year too :)  I thought I would share these cards with you, and send out a big THANK YOU to everyone that sent me cards and messages, it really meant a lot to me.

Sorry this is a photo heavy post, please scroll down to see the cards I have made and uploaded today :)

iSpy Sketches #13

Here is the fourth and final card I made last night during my stamping session. This one was for the sketch challenge over at iSpy Sketches. If you would like to play along, this is the sketch:

And here is my card. I thought it was appropriate that I use the 'iSpy Wryn' image on my iSpy sketch card this week. I have coloured her using Copic markers and added a little glitter to her dress and hat band.

Supplies:
Image: iSpy Wryn by Tiddly Inks
Cardstock: Early Espresso, White XPress It card, DSP by Simple Stories
Other: Early espresso ribbon by SU!, nestabilities, Copic markers, stitching, glitter.

Freshly Made Sketches #32 - Take 2

This is the second card I made using this weeks sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. You can see the sketch and my first card HERE.

I have added an extra little band across this one, but other than that I pretty much stuck with the sketch :)

Freshly Made Sketches #32

I have made two cards for this week's sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches, and this is the first one. If you would like to play along, this is the sketch:

And here is my card. I have seen the spotty technique I used on the dress a few times and wanted to try it. Not sure that it matches the DSP I chose though now that I look at it! lol

Supplies:
Stamps: Pure Innocence image, sentiment by Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: Early Espresso, White XPress It Cardstock, DSP by By Bunny
Other: Nesabilities, copic markers, pearl accents, glitter, stitching, dimensional magic

Clean & Simple Stamping Sketch Challenge FTL188

Well after a slow start I was very productive in my craft room last night getting four cards done! It may not sound like a lot, but I can't remember the last time I made that many cards in one 3 hour crafting session.

One of the cards I made was using this great sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping.  This is the sketch:

And here is my card.  I have been itching to use this adorable little set since I got it from PTI but just never seemed to have any ideas. Then I saw the sketch and it all came together. I coloured the little cups using the warm neutral copic markers before adding the little bands on them.

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Melon Mambo, White XPress It cardstock. DSP by Simple Stories.
Ink: Early Espresso, cool caribbean, melon mambo
Other: Stitching, copic markers, scallop border punch by SU!

Just Add Ink #114 - Just Add ... ME!

Yes, that's right ... this week's challenge over at Just Add Ink is to do a CASE of one of my cards! I must admit, it's very hard to case yourself! although you would think I'd be used to it as quite often I go back and copy something I have done before with a little variation.

And I must apologise for my tardiness, things have been a bit out of whack here this week with an impromptu couple of days away at a friends beach house, and then the girls have both been sick with a cold. But now that things have settled, I hope to spend a bit of time in my craft room this afternoon.

Here is the card I made for this week's challenge. Which I cased from THIS card.

Supplies:
Cardstock/DSP: White cardstock, DSP by Bo Bunny.
Other: Copic markers, nestabilities, stitching, pool party ribbon by SU!

Home Reno Update

We spent our entire Easter weekend (and a few days afterwards) painting the exterior of the house which was rendered last year. Hubby and I did the exterior render together and then I continued on after he returned to work and painted all of the gutters and the siding at the front of the house. To say I was exhausted was an understatement! lol But I do feel a huge sense of satisfaction now that it is finally done.

The next job will be painting the driveway and getting the inserts and gates added to the fence and planting our garden beds and lawn, although this may have to wait until after winter because I think it will be more successful in the autumn.

Anyway, here are a few progress pics of what we achieved on the weekend.

This is the before photo - what it looked like when we bought it.

This is during - after having the house rendered, but before the roof was re-coated.

And this is after.

It's been a slow work in progress, but we are finally getting somewhere!
