Just Add Ink Challenge #163 - Just Add A Fun Background!

Hello friends!

I hope that you are all having a great week.  I had a birthday on Wednesday so have been having a lovely time with my girls. We spent my birthday at the Zoo, followed by dinner out at one of our favourite pizza places by the water and ice cream cake. It doesn't get much better than that right?

We are also just into our first week of the school holidays here, which is great because it's not such a rushed routine in the morning (or early starts) although I have yet to find time to play in my craft room in between the girls' social events and me being the Taxi driver.

Anyway, the reason I am here is to share my card for this week's challenge over at Just Add Ink. And this week the challenge is ...

                    Just Add...a FUN background!

For my card this week I have used a border stamp from My Favorite Things called Mod Borders and inked it up in all the colours of the rainbow to create my background. Which actually ended up being the focal point of my card!  I then added a matching colour sequin to each of the rows just to add a little sparkle to my card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Mod Border by My Favorite Things, sentiment from Papertrey Ink.
Ink: Stampin' Up!
Cardstock: Office works (black and white), SU! for the Riding Hood Red.
Other: Riding Hood Red ribbon from SU!, sequins from Riot Craft.

Thanks for visiting this week and I hope I have motivated you to play along, I would love to see your creations!

Happy Stamping.

Chalkboard Birthday

Here is a card I made using the chalkboard technique. I decided not to emboss the white pigment ink because I wanted a more chalky look than an embossed one and I really like the effect.

Supplies:
Stamps: My Favorite Things
Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Cool Caribbean and Melon Mambo. Black CS from Officeworks
Ink: Whisper White Craft Ink, Memento black
Other: White gel pen, string

Just Add Ink Challenge #162 - Just Add a technique you've never tried before.

Happy Friday!  I hope you have an exciting weekend planned. Wish I could say I did, but it will most likely be filled with cleaning, washing and with a bit of luck - some crafting!

Before I get to all of that though, here are my cards for this week's challenge over at Just Add Ink. This week we get to do some fun stuff, and try a technique we've never tried before. It may be hard to believe, but I have never tried the emboss resist technique before so figured it was time to give it a go! I also had a play with my distress inks, something else I hardly ever get out of the box.

I started by stamping my image and sentiment (from Clearly Besotted Stamps) in Versamark Ink onto white gloss card stock and then heat embossing with iridescent peacock embossing powder. It is so sparkly in real life, but I just couldn't capture it in the photos.

I then used a sponge and rubbed the cardstock with my distress inks before sprinkling it with water to get this beautiful effect. I used the same colours on both cards, yet they look very different! I love that you can get different looks depending on how much of each colour you use and how you blend it.

Supplies:
Stamps: Clearly Besotted Stamps
Cardstock: Black, white, white gloss
Other: Iridescent Peacock embossing powder, Versamark Ink, Tim Holtz Distress Inks,
Black Satin Ribbon

Just Add Ink Challenge #160 - Inspiration Pic

Happy Friday!

Not only does that mean the weekend is right on our doorstep, but also that there is a new challenge up over at Just Add Ink! And this week we have an inspiration picture for you.  Given that we are now officially in Autumn this image is perfect don't you think? Although with the temperatures here in WA still reaching the low to mid 30's it's still feeling very summery where I am.

Here is my card. And it's quite easy to see where the inspiration has come from. Not only did I use the colours from the picture, and the leaves but I also used the layout design of the image for my card too.

Hope you can play along with us this week!

Happy Stamping :)

A post Easter card share for Bizzy Becs

Hello friends!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter. I have spent a lovely 5 days with my family, and the girls had the added benefit of a pupil free day today so we are enjoying an extra day off.

Before I share my card for today, I must apologise for it's lateness! In all of the excitement in the lead up to Easter and being very busy at work I forgot to post this card for Bizzy Becs before the long weekend!

I love that I can take one of the Bizzy Becs card kits and make a card using all of the papers and embellishments and know they will match, because all of the work is done for you!  And that is what I did with this card.

I took Card Kit #5 (I am not sure if this exact one is still available in the store, but there are new ones added all the time!) and just added a sentiment that I had at home, and some plain cardstock and this card came together very quickly and easily! ALL of the papers, ribbon and embellishments came in the pack.

Supplies:
Paper, ribbon, flowers and button - Bizzy Becs Card Kit #5.
Sentiment Stamp: My Favorite Things
Other: Stitching, blue ink, dies by PTI.
