Seize The Birthday Challenge - Tag You're It!

Welcome to another great challenge over at Seize the Birthday!

And this week we have a fun Topping Option for you! And it's ...

"Tags"

Just remember to keep it a Birthday Theme!

If your not a toppings kinda person, well.....you can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!

The choice is yours!

For my card this week, I stamped the background using an MFT background stamp and embossed it in white embossing powder. I then water coloured between the triangles using distress inks and once it was dry I ironed off the embossing to leave a flat image. I saw this technique on Jennifer McGuire's blog recently and loved the look!

Supplies:
Background Stamp: My Favorite Things.
Sentiment stamps: Hero Arts
Other: Tag Die by MFT, white embossing powder, Ranger distress inks, Kaiser rhinestones.

Just Add Ink #214 - Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome to another challenge over at Just Add Ink! This week Kim has a fun sketch for us to play with.

This is such a quick and easy sketch to work with, and I have to admit that I know this because I had forgotten to make my card and whipped this one up in 15 minutes this afternoon! You've got to love that right? So don't let the diagonal lines deter you, this sketch is really quite versatile.  Or maybe it's just me and my card OCD that has a problem with diagonal lines ;)

Anyway, here is my card.

Supplies:
Stamps: Avery Elle
Card/Paper: Studio Calico DSP, crumb cake and pink pirouette card stock from Stampin' Up! Sequens, tag die by Avery Elle.

Water colour for card makers Day 2

Here is a card made using the technique demonstrated by Agnieszka Malyszek. For some reason this colour washed card was quite hard to photograph and the colours are actually a little brighter in reality.

Supplies:
Stamps: Technique Tuesday
Other: watercolours, distress markers (for the heart), Archival ink, thread.

Seize The Sketch #19

It's been a while since I have had time to play along with a Seize The Sketch challenge, but I had some time in my craft room today and took the opportunity to make a card using the current sketch.

And here is my card. It was very hard to photograph this card well so that you could see the raindrop background, but it is so pretty in real life :)  I used the MFT raindrop stencil with some translucent embossing paste and clear embossing powder to create the look of wet raindrops. I then coloured the MFT image with Copic Markers.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Stampin' Up!
Ink: Memento Black
Stamps: My Favorite Things
Dies/Stencil: My Favorite Things
Other: Copic Markers, stitching, embossing paste, clear embossing powder

Water colour cards

Once I had my supplies organised (see my last post) I decided to make a couple of cards. It sure is harder than they make it look in the pre class videos! Which is probably why they say to have a play with your supplies and get to know them. I think I need to spend a lot more time doing this before class starts!

For this first card I just used a flat wide brush and swished the paint across the card going from blue to green. I then stamped the sentiment (from My Favorite Things) in black staz on ink and added the little stars (also MFT) in Memento London Fog. Of course I added some stitching around the edge and mounted it up on dimensional tape.

For my second card I just 'splodged' the watercolour into one area (yes, I am sure splodged is a technical term) and then also flicked some of paint onto the card as well which is hard to see in this image. I added the little star type images (from SU!) again in London Fog and the large sentiment from MFT in Staz On and just mounted it simply on some black card. I also added a little glitter which is hard to see in the pic as well.

Anyway, that is as far as I have got and I can't wait to play some more and get started in class!

Prepping for class

I don't know about you, but I am one of those people that has as much fun collection and organising craft supplies as I do using them! In fact I often do more shopping and collecting than I do creating .. oops!

And since I have just signed up for the new class over at Online Card Classes I thought I had best get all of my stuff organised.  And I am so excited about this class since it is ...

I had a few watercolour supplies including some old paints and some watercolour paper but I also went and stocked up on some new goodies too.  And once again my trolley from Ikea has become my work station.  Here it is all loaded up with my goodies!

To start with I did one of the exercises on the OCC page, which suggested we make colour charts of the paints that we had. This is such a great idea! Makes it easier to select your colours and they look so pretty too :)  I ended up laminating mine since I already had one little accident and smudged one of my cards by dropping some water on it!

Then I got all of the different watercolour papers I had and cut them down to size and put them in little bags with labels so I would know which one was which and it also makes it easier when topping up the paper or re-stocking.

And of course once I did all this I had a little play and created a couple of samples. So stay tuned for my next post :)

Can't wait for class to start!
