Since I am someone who usually spends quite a bit of time watercoloring, I was excited to try the splatter technique that Erum showed in Lesson 5. And I know I will be using this technique a LOT from now on! It was simple to do, yet the results are so beautiful! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh6JoL09MUtlQ-s4C6ilvWi_qzlfo0Id_qWQ2aOiN5UuTVqx6gU-i2urrmFmruwvFkaLk_k3xh0724WY4w2lSAOrxsKbaK2jOct3Sjl9pGbCYRpscw_tEanYUiDEhZy0jR4MUUwVYK3FpuuIJGUN83BspDL6iS4yP9oQdOC-18wLj6NsnkZQqc=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh6JoL09MUtlQ-s4C6ilvWi_qzlfo0Id_qWQ2aOiN5UuTVqx6gU-i2urrmFmruwvFkaLk_k3xh0724WY4w2lSAOrxsKbaK2jOct3Sjl9pGbCYRpscw_tEanYUiDEhZy0jR4MUUwVYK3FpuuIJGUN83BspDL6iS4yP9oQdOC-18wLj6NsnkZQqc=w400-h400" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I started by stamping the image from the Altenew Blossom & Bloom stamp set in permanent black ink on a piece of Altenew A2 watercolor paper. I also stamped the image on some scrap printer paper to create some masks, since this image was all one piece and I wanted the leaves and flowers in different colours. </p><p>I masked off the leaves and then sprayed the flowers with water and used the splatter technique Erum shared to add color to the images using the Altenew Artist Watercolor set. The colours for the flowers were: pocketful of sunshine, summer afternoon and delectable delights. I then dried it off before adding a few more splatters.</p><p>When that was dry, I masked off the flowers and did the same process with the leaves. The colours I used were Rainforest and Tropical Forest. I then added some white splatters to the whole image, dried it and cut it out using the coordinating die.</p><p>To create my background I used the exact same technique as the flowers, using shades of blue. The colours were Deep Blue Seas and Starry Night. Once the first layer was dry I added some darker splatters and then some gold splatters using the metallic watercolours. </p><p>I trimmed my background panel down a little and attached it with Altenew foam tape to an A2 top folding white card base. I used more foam tape to adhere the focal image. </p><p>I stamped the sentiment from the 'Tiny Sentiments: Hello' stamp set in clear embossing ink onto black cardstock and embossed with pure white embossing powder. I trimmed it down and attached it to the front of the card. I then added some white enamel dots to complete the project. </p><p>Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you liked this project. I sure had fun making it! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhLRsi-ar20c32upBCABqCTH9P_i7t3JOu-a3eJQrzBZrPWSw4poxWwXWOgqsWQegkfdClhxynjpyBGuY07gMDWUnYj754JN7uS5nRXYIRvZfwGUkUv19DgsNBQKU_Xy9K9JUm2ZsjOI3THSvBhfsp81ATdEAMSYZel2osvCRWKzDVxd8f4lEs=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhLRsi-ar20c32upBCABqCTH9P_i7t3JOu-a3eJQrzBZrPWSw4poxWwXWOgqsWQegkfdClhxynjpyBGuY07gMDWUnYj754JN7uS5nRXYIRvZfwGUkUv19DgsNBQKU_Xy9K9JUm2ZsjOI3THSvBhfsp81ATdEAMSYZel2osvCRWKzDVxd8f4lEs=w400-h400" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjiKcZdEIftLBYAJqiFJ_FM72961H1nDIls5KZAtvSFlcv0bfPt0aNaMB8UDVxbci522dpCqsEoYzRacHGqIQsuycNCoX4mYKgRoXRRQd2QbzBgzj4oIcdn9jSfDlHeG-wBGvdzuqKz8D8Gq0_PCbLPKYwVwF9aJ8_mmCVNgDKxXwONLxcAPs8=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjiKcZdEIftLBYAJqiFJ_FM72961H1nDIls5KZAtvSFlcv0bfPt0aNaMB8UDVxbci522dpCqsEoYzRacHGqIQsuycNCoX4mYKgRoXRRQd2QbzBgzj4oIcdn9jSfDlHeG-wBGvdzuqKz8D8Gq0_PCbLPKYwVwF9aJ8_mmCVNgDKxXwONLxcAPs8=w400-h400" width="400" /></a></div><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;"><br /></p><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/blossom-bloom-stamp-die-bundle" target="_blank">Blossom & Bloom Stamp & Die Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/tiny-sentiments-hello-stamp-set" target="_blank"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">T</span>iny Sentiments: Hello Stamp set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Altenew Permanent Black Ink</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/instant-dimension-foam-tape" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/essential-black-white-enamel-dots" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Essential Black & White Enamel Dots</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/embossing-ink" target="_blank">Clear Embossing Ink</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/pure-white-crisp-embossing-powder" target="_blank"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">W</span>hite Embossing Powder</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/watercolor-paper-set-a2-loose-sheets" target="_blank">Altenew A2 Watercolor Paper Pack</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/artists-watercolor-24-pan-set" target="_blank">Altenew Artist Watercolor Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/metallic-watercolor-14-pan-set" target="_blank">Altenew Metallic Watercolors</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/artists-watercolor-brushes-round" target="_blank">Altenew Watercolor Brushes (Round Size 3)</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></span></div>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-65731432087232934822021-12-27T18:40:00.001+08:002021-12-27T18:40:26.483+08:00Altenew - Demystifying Mixed Media<p>I cannot believe this is my second last project for Level 3 before my final challenge! I had hoped to be completed by the end of this year, but life has thrown us quite a few curve balls which meant that crafting had to take a bit of a back seat. </p><p>But I had fun completing this class with Tania Ahmed called 'Demystifying Mixed Media'. I have been playing a bit lately with mixed media and art journalling so I loved getting lots of new tips that I could incorporate into my card projects. </p><p>The two main lessons I drew inspiration from for my card were Lesson 1: Textured backgrounds using pastes and Lesson 5: Text Book Collage </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgC1bdsSzHhRxLLNx2KQPnfI_fJIQC3tFLugZYq3rCwHBYG-5zj_TWqkvPYqvEBhskp2phOVOG-8MrL0reWilU8CdzvWwye6N1XjRwuo0GFJcbO0URz5SAJ9bgpSCvethXu-0e-u4rDMexYGaD1P8EkxAi_pO54sVVmuncz2fgv1GfaySjoNzQ=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgC1bdsSzHhRxLLNx2KQPnfI_fJIQC3tFLugZYq3rCwHBYG-5zj_TWqkvPYqvEBhskp2phOVOG-8MrL0reWilU8CdzvWwye6N1XjRwuo0GFJcbO0URz5SAJ9bgpSCvethXu-0e-u4rDMexYGaD1P8EkxAi_pO54sVVmuncz2fgv1GfaySjoNzQ=w400-h400" width="400" /></a></div><p>Mixed media is all about adding layers of colour, techniques and textures to your project. And I started this card by creating my own text book collage paper using one of the sentiment stamps from the Eucalyptus Jar stamp set. I stamped it repeatedly onto a piece of tissue/collage paper (4.5"x6.5") in permanent ink. This is what it looked like when it was completed. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh0ZFSjqkBttxSQ2f6wglSWfV1suKIfO7PR4CJ9Kn8zsXCWB-5VztmnhgqjGEwI5ycUNdHBLHsEJ4kB8KJiap4dHL-09i4uBY5n2W82WrZ1lalOc7P_H9kf5Jo-tChqfK0mVOqVNL9hOzwOppg4unIq_oG1M3jjc0BrECtF6IUgJs_PcUd4UCo=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh0ZFSjqkBttxSQ2f6wglSWfV1suKIfO7PR4CJ9Kn8zsXCWB-5VztmnhgqjGEwI5ycUNdHBLHsEJ4kB8KJiap4dHL-09i4uBY5n2W82WrZ1lalOc7P_H9kf5Jo-tChqfK0mVOqVNL9hOzwOppg4unIq_oG1M3jjc0BrECtF6IUgJs_PcUd4UCo=w400-h400" width="400" /></a></div><p>I then use a collage medium to attach it to a piece of white card stock the same size. I also went over it with a thin layer of white gesso to tone down the background a little. Once that was dry, I added some Altenew Dusk and Desert Night inks to my craft mat, spritzed with water and smooshed it onto my background. I dried that and then repeated to get a couple of layers of colour. I then dried it again before adding some white embossing paste through the 'Feeling Dotty' stencil and left it to dry.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh2J8EOWFqOxTGGUUpyfbAcZ61U3KKNh90s0saLzILBB_t8doaJ3fTW7CYp4IOWu_P9_gBDIrQ5784_jgw_1w0HR82SdL_lB1uP6XfpxUrSpWpJu52mt1DfS_MZJcSJhYqISh75BUo-1jrAkzOWVkmA_Cad5xrHjxWoVlz-mJc2cxOF_TOzPpM=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh2J8EOWFqOxTGGUUpyfbAcZ61U3KKNh90s0saLzILBB_t8doaJ3fTW7CYp4IOWu_P9_gBDIrQ5784_jgw_1w0HR82SdL_lB1uP6XfpxUrSpWpJu52mt1DfS_MZJcSJhYqISh75BUo-1jrAkzOWVkmA_Cad5xrHjxWoVlz-mJc2cxOF_TOzPpM=w400-h400" width="400" /></a></div><p>While that was drying, I stamped the large jar image and the 'Hi' sentiment from the same stamp set in permanent black ink and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I then used Altenew foam tape to attach them to the front of my panel for extra dimension. For more interest I splattered some black, white and gold paint onto my panel and added some black enamel dots as well. I then went around the edge of the panel with some Dusk Ink and drew a line around the outer edge using a black marker. </p><p>I attached it to a black 5"x7" card base using foam tape and that completed my card. I hope you enjoyed my project, as I had a lot of fun trying new techniques and creating this card!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiP8MiopYQ_-fhxr_aSGw1mkzYgTyCWJKMotyanlu1FToo-huaA1zTZet1Zt9Q0MxHbHHAx2QiAwz84XMTojLZZR8mbG0r4kQxpQjBNKWvrkcq4K2rWknTmWEdDRNkRlvFTJO4LT-magjWfmO1HChR3Q8sONwrhN2-mzIOAo9mkvcmt4f8oA2A=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiP8MiopYQ_-fhxr_aSGw1mkzYgTyCWJKMotyanlu1FToo-huaA1zTZet1Zt9Q0MxHbHHAx2QiAwz84XMTojLZZR8mbG0r4kQxpQjBNKWvrkcq4K2rWknTmWEdDRNkRlvFTJO4LT-magjWfmO1HChR3Q8sONwrhN2-mzIOAo9mkvcmt4f8oA2A=w400-h400" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhMmPgZ9Vrl3w90y9VvVD24bg8y9Wza7118UrWsXkA_CBkZ5lXBfV4DKB3Hv2T-RGkej7D2yOGaygu6K5Q5I3az_sQawi8QcNj3T3k7FnFd87wU3QyYG3mWrcdtX05ypp14C5DOTfhOh3X77cNM1weYC7vieXKaWm_cXpnfvlkDKQIR4lN5Z7E=s3024" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhMmPgZ9Vrl3w90y9VvVD24bg8y9Wza7118UrWsXkA_CBkZ5lXBfV4DKB3Hv2T-RGkej7D2yOGaygu6K5Q5I3az_sQawi8QcNj3T3k7FnFd87wU3QyYG3mWrcdtX05ypp14C5DOTfhOh3X77cNM1weYC7vieXKaWm_cXpnfvlkDKQIR4lN5Z7E=w400-h400" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/eucalyptus-jar-stamp-die-bundle" target="_blank"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">E</span>ucalyptus Jar Stamp & Die Bundle</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/feeling-dotty-stencil" target="_blank">Feeling Dotty Stencil</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink" target="_blank"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">Altenew P</span>ermanent Black Ink</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/instant-dimension-foam-tape" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/cool-summer-night" target="_blank">Cool Summer Night Ink Pad set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/essential-black-white-enamel-dots" target="_blank">Essential Black & White Enamel Dots</a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Collage Paper</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/embossing-paste" target="_blank">White Embossing Paste</a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Collage Medium</div><div style="text-align: center;">White Gesso</div><div style="text-align: center;">Acrylic paints</div></span></div><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-37292392294748279392021-09-27T11:39:00.000+08:002021-09-27T11:39:00.225+08:00Altenew - The Magic Of 3D Embossing<p>3D embossing folders are so popular right now, and Altenew has a large collection of fabulous ones to choose from! I have bought several these folders, so I thought this Altenew Academy course with Laurel Beard would be perfect and I have learnt lots of fun techniques for using 3D embossing folders. </p><p>I chose to use the technique that Laurel demonstrated in Lesson 4 - Jazzing It Up where she stamped the card stock before embossing.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nIqvZJLELmU/YVE8Xu75xEI/AAAAAAAAIZQ/OctdHko5WmML8qHn54k5UAuPCZC5ytwpwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_0764.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nIqvZJLELmU/YVE8Xu75xEI/AAAAAAAAIZQ/OctdHko5WmML8qHn54k5UAuPCZC5ytwpwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_0764.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p>I started with an A2 piece of pale blue cardstock and stamped the sentiment from the Painted Greetings stamp set in Jet Black ink before putting it in the Bunch Of Balloons embossing folder and running it through my die cut machine. </p><p><i><b>TIP: </b>Rub a baby wipe over the card stock before embossing, it helps break down the fibres and prevents cracking.</i></p><p>I then trimmed the blue panel down before adding a black mat and attaching it to an A2 white top folded card base using foam tape. </p><p>To complete the card, I added some clear sequins. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IqBeFvwunLQ/YVE8huhqlaI/AAAAAAAAIZU/i2CXhiVgw6ASGpEblBCHzQvqfsvP-Vk7QCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_0765.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IqBeFvwunLQ/YVE8huhqlaI/AAAAAAAAIZU/i2CXhiVgw6ASGpEblBCHzQvqfsvP-Vk7QCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_0765.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href=" https://altenew.com/products/bunch-of-balloons-3d-embossing-folder">Bunch of Balloons 3D Embossing Folder</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/painted-greetings" target="_blank"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">P</span>ainted Greetings Stamp Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/jet-black-crisp-dye-ink" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Jet Black Ink</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/instant-dimension-foam-tape" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></span></div><p><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-36612140037671976432021-09-26T22:41:00.001+08:002021-09-26T22:41:09.318+08:00Altenew - Clean, Simple & Colourful Techniques<p>For today's project, I have created a card using the techniques learned from Laura Bassen in Lesson 4 of the Clean, Simple & Colourful Techniques class, called Masking and Ink Blending. In this class Laura created a rainbow ink blended background using masking tape so I have used the same techniques, but in a different pattern. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TS6re1WpNI4/YVCBc4wmrGI/AAAAAAAAIZA/REH9hV-x_rYYl5aGXtJNukbJ4PR5hdlwACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_0752.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TS6re1WpNI4/YVCBc4wmrGI/AAAAAAAAIZA/REH9hV-x_rYYl5aGXtJNukbJ4PR5hdlwACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_0752.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p>I started by stamping the floral image from the Fairy Tale Florals stamp set onto an A2 piece of white card in clear embossing ink, and heating with white embossing powder. I then took a piece of 1" post it tape, and starting from the top I masked off and ink blended working my way down to the bottom, making sure to leave a little white space between each layer. </p><p>The colours I used were Mango Smoothie, Caramel Toffee, Coral Berry, Lavender Fields, Winter Lake, Caribbean Sky and Mountain Mist. I also splattered some Altenew Pearl Gold watercolour and white ink onto the panel. </p><p>I then trimmed the panel down 1/4" and mounted it onto a black A2 top folding note card. To create the sentiment I die cut the Handwritten Hello die twice from white cardstock and once from gold card and layered them together, using liquid glue to attach them to my card. </p><p>To complete the card I added some gold jewels.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-b-0KUNoLPog/YVCF9cRukMI/AAAAAAAAIZI/0Cy9i06XnQIOvMhB9tpmraxP7PQ-AsrNgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_0753.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-b-0KUNoLPog/YVCF9cRukMI/AAAAAAAAIZI/0Cy9i06XnQIOvMhB9tpmraxP7PQ-AsrNgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_0753.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/fairy-tale-florals-stamp-die-bundle"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">F</span>airy Tale Florals</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/handwritten-hello-die-set"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">H</span>andwritten Hello Die</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/metallic-watercolor-14-pan-set">Altenew Metallic Watercolor Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/pure-white-crisp-embossing-powder" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Pure White Embossing Powder</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/embossing-ink" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Clear Embossing Ink</a></div><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/instant-dimension-foam-tape" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/collections/oval-inks">Altenew Crisp Dye Inks</a></div></span></div><p><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-11085935670024040432021-09-26T20:35:00.001+08:002021-09-26T20:35:18.205+08:00Altenew - Quick and simple cards for everyday crafting<p>I have just completed Quick & Simple Cards for Everyday Crafting with Laurie Willison with Altenew Academy, and I really loved this course! Sometimes, when you don't have a lot of time to craft the ideas shared in this class will come in handy for putting together beautiful (but quick!) cards.</p><p>I have made my card today using the concepts taught by Laurie in lesson 2 - Creating a quick and simple card with a background focus. Altenew has so many great background stencils, that it was hard to choose, but in the end I decided on the Geometric Landscape stencil. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DlQ2yj6SPEA/YVBklKfbC4I/AAAAAAAAIYw/vonw7k5HVWYVDsN2brYIec_qeg6q8WhaACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_0741.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1855" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DlQ2yj6SPEA/YVBklKfbC4I/AAAAAAAAIYw/vonw7k5HVWYVDsN2brYIec_qeg6q8WhaACLcBGAsYHQ/w363-h400/IMG_0741.heic" width="363" /></a></div><p>I started by placing the stencil on a piece of A2 card and ink blending using Altenew Inks (in Emerald, Lagood, Volcano Lake and Mountain Mist). I then trimmed the panel down half an inch off each side and placed some Altenew double sided foam tape to the back before attaching it to an A2 top folded white card base. </p><p>I then stamped the large floral image from the Hello Beautiful kit in permanent black ink onto white card and cut it out using the coordinating die. I then stamped the sentiment from the Heartfelt Sentiment stamp set in clear embossing ink onto black card and heat set it with white embossing powder. I then used double sided foam tape to attach the flowers and sentiment strip to the front panel and finished the card off with some black enamel dots. </p><p>Thanks for visiting my blog and have a great day! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-952qf_j3lfU/YVBkxxqp_WI/AAAAAAAAIY0/cs9KGi8bcE8LtEjZyScYcKoVRL7lmW-IACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_0743.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-952qf_j3lfU/YVBkxxqp_WI/AAAAAAAAIY0/cs9KGi8bcE8LtEjZyScYcKoVRL7lmW-IACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_0743.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/craft-your-life-project-kit-hello-beautiful">Hello Beautiful Project Kit</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/heartfelt-sentiments-stamp-set">Heartfelt Sentiments</a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Geometric Landscape Stencil</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/collections/oval-inks">Altenew Dye Inks</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/pure-white-crisp-embossing-powder">Pure White Embossing Powder</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/embossing-ink">Clear Embossing Ink</a></div><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Permanent Black Ink</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/instant-dimension-foam-tape" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/essential-black-white-enamel-dots">Enamel Dots</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></span></div><p style="text-align: center;"><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: start;" /><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" style="text-align: start;" /></p><p style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px;"></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-88244917597357848912021-07-25T17:53:00.004+08:002021-07-25T17:53:33.491+08:00AECP Level 2 Final Challenge<p>Hello friends!</p><p>I am excited to be doing my final challenge for Level 2 of the Altenew Educator Certification Program. I have really enjoyed all of the level 2 classes and gained so much inspiration from the instructors and fellow participants. And the great thing is that these classes are accessible to anyone and not just part of the AECP program, so I really encourage you to try them out. There are SO many classes to choose from. </p><p>For my final project I was asked to create 4 masculine cards with the themes of birthday, love/thinking of you, encouragement and anniversary, using any 3 components from the classes in Level 1 or 2 (I ended up using 5). As well as an altered item/upcycled project. </p><p>The components I used for inspiration on my projects include <a href="https://altenew.com/products/easy-ink-blending-techniques" target="_blank">Easy Ink Blending</a> (with Amy Lee), <a href="https://altenew.com/products/let-it-shine" target="_blank">Let It Shine</a> (with Carissa Wiley), <a href="https://altenew.com/products/for-the-guys" target="_blank">For The Guys</a> (with Jennifer Rzasa), <a href="https://altenew.com/products/creative-watercolor-media" target="_blank">Creative Watercolor Media</a> (with Jennifer Rzasa, Laura Bassen & Debby Hughes) and <a href="https://altenew.com/products/celebration-stencil-techniques" target="_blank">Celebration Stencil Techniques</a> (with Laurel Beard). </p><p>So today I will share with you the four cards I made including step by step instructions, as well as my additional upcycled project and I hope they will give you some inspiration! I have also included some <span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><i><b>highlighted tips</b></i></span> that I hope you will find useful in your own crafting. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--sBRERSWtVQ/YP0zf5WEO_I/AAAAAAAAIYQ/OzeDZ_r2-0QR9fdDDS5Jk2MJ_7ltjGfwwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9902.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--sBRERSWtVQ/YP0zf5WEO_I/AAAAAAAAIYQ/OzeDZ_r2-0QR9fdDDS5Jk2MJ_7ltjGfwwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9902.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p>I have included a full Altenew supply list at the end of this post. </p><p>When planning out this project I knew I wanted all of my cards to be cohesive in some way, but rather than choose a single colour palette, I decided instead to draw up a sketch and use that same sketch for all four of my cards. I altered each card by theme and technique and will go through each of them with you.</p><p><i><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><b>Tip: Using a sketch helps when mass producing cards, or when you want to create quick cards as it saves you time having to come up with different layout designs for each card. </b></span></i></p><p>This is the sketch I drew up and then used for all four of my cards. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-96zJOzp5RJA/YP0n3gmDhZI/AAAAAAAAIVo/Y2UeFKGKMesrLGoKdv1-bHP26l6VHNRdQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9895.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1936" data-original-width="2048" height="302" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-96zJOzp5RJA/YP0n3gmDhZI/AAAAAAAAIVo/Y2UeFKGKMesrLGoKdv1-bHP26l6VHNRdQCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h302/IMG_9895.heic" width="320" /></a></div><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>CARD 1: ENCOURAGEMENT</b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DEeSUKdtPpU/YP0oWpJ2RXI/AAAAAAAAIVw/72ccM_BcXT4w7lknSBVRsKJC1cd2tFODwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9871.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DEeSUKdtPpU/YP0oWpJ2RXI/AAAAAAAAIVw/72ccM_BcXT4w7lknSBVRsKJC1cd2tFODwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9871.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p>For this card I was inspired by the 'Easy Ink Blending' class but stepped it up a little to incorporate an embossing folder. I also used inspiration from the 'For The Guys' (masculine cards) and 'Let It Shine' classes. </p><p>I started by ink blending a panel of Bristol card stock with Altenew Dye Inks in Arctic Mountain, Winter Lake and Icy Water using large Altenew ink blending tools going from dark to light, building up the colour. I then put the panel into the Might Waves embossing folder and ran it through my die cutting machine. I cut the panel to a smaller 3.25"x4.25" so that it would fit through the slot in the top of the embossing folder as I wanted to leave the top portion of the panel un-embossed.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d1n9mXtq28E/YP0pvMib5HI/AAAAAAAAIV4/pkAgkc5d9k4LnDUn6THzkalZN5FmWwX2wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9897.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d1n9mXtq28E/YP0pvMib5HI/AAAAAAAAIV4/pkAgkc5d9k4LnDUn6THzkalZN5FmWwX2wCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9897.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p><i><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><b>Tip: Inking the cardstock first, makes the paper softer giving a beautiful embossed impression as the embossing folder presses the ink into the card. </b></span></i></p><p>I then mounted it onto a white panel which was slightly larger. I then used double sided foam tape to attach it to a black A2 top folding card base. </p><p>I then stamped the sentiment from the Sentiment Strips stamp set in clear embossing ink, and heat set with pure white embossing powder. I thought this sentiment was perfect for an encouragement card! I then cut it into strips and used foam tape to attach it to the front of my card. </p><p>To add a bit of shine to my card, I attached some clear droplets to the embossed panel which completed my card. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z5wmE2J_q_c/YP0qD01nWrI/AAAAAAAAIWA/cedjjXdvUM0Xn3mKcunkvJ0wVzygvrw4ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9869.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z5wmE2J_q_c/YP0qD01nWrI/AAAAAAAAIWA/cedjjXdvUM0Xn3mKcunkvJ0wVzygvrw4ACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9869.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>CARD 2: THINKING OF YOU</b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3I5WCG5lt3k/YP0qyObMXkI/AAAAAAAAIWI/K0CKEYedEVkIOSxMBpqLQs6gixtQ2reLACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9875.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3I5WCG5lt3k/YP0qyObMXkI/AAAAAAAAIWI/K0CKEYedEVkIOSxMBpqLQs6gixtQ2reLACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9875.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p>For my second card I have incorporated the 'Creative Watercolor Media', 'Let It Shine' and 'For The Guys' classes. I am just disappointed that you cannot capture the beautiful metallic watercolours in a photo, to see how gorgeous they look in reality! </p><p>I started by stamping the Whimsical Herringbone background stamp (inspired by the Geometric class in 'For The Guys') onto black watercolor cardstock in clear embossing ink and heat set with pure white embossing powder. I then coloured the ink with the gorgeous Altenew Metallic Watercolour paints using the Altenew Size 3 round paintbrush, and put it aside to dry. The colours I used were Topaz, Sterling Silver, Aquamarine and Jade. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WGpVySQlbTg/YP0r1FoIs6I/AAAAAAAAIWQ/gUQy0clYm-86GM-vyKjI13lEMwQBo1gogCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9898.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WGpVySQlbTg/YP0r1FoIs6I/AAAAAAAAIWQ/gUQy0clYm-86GM-vyKjI13lEMwQBo1gogCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h320/IMG_9898.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><p>I also painted a piece of the watercolour paper with the Topaz metallic paint, and when it was dry I die cut the Hello from the Hugs & Hello set and mounted it onto the shadow panel which was cut from black cardstock.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bHmkQYIMEQ8/YP0sDYmALVI/AAAAAAAAIWU/YKbsT1IPUmg4dkO2jPMNjZ4O7qhrnlKHgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9612.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bHmkQYIMEQ8/YP0sDYmALVI/AAAAAAAAIWU/YKbsT1IPUmg4dkO2jPMNjZ4O7qhrnlKHgCLcBGAsYHQ/w320-h320/IMG_9612.heic" width="320" /></a></div><p><i><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><b>Tip: Choose only 3-4 coordinating colours only to keep the card cohesive and less 'busy' looking. </b></span></i></p><p>I trimmed the background panel to 3.25"x4.5", attached it to a white panel and used double sided foam tape to attach it to a black A2 top folding card base. I then added the hello word die to the front, stamped the 'thinking of you friend' sentiment from the Hugs & Hello stamp set in clear ink and heat set that in pure white embossing powder as well before cutting it into a strip and mounting it over the Hello using double sided foam tape. </p><p>As this card is already so shiny due to the metallic watercolours, I decided not to add any further embellishment. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TZD9DR2N3vU/YP0sUj17LVI/AAAAAAAAIWg/Q1IZVwvKqbIFbEIm2Ccd_OZ8qJ967wF1gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9874.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TZD9DR2N3vU/YP0sUj17LVI/AAAAAAAAIWg/Q1IZVwvKqbIFbEIm2Ccd_OZ8qJ967wF1gCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9874.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><b>CARD 3: BIRTHDAY</b></p><p>This card incorporates the Stencil techniques class as well as the For The Guys (making a masculine themed card), and Let it Shine. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VsXNBkF0ygw/YP0smY58inI/AAAAAAAAIWo/wNHKSqnfXCk_y51kNVrOZqV0BRVoULtXwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9877.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VsXNBkF0ygw/YP0smY58inI/AAAAAAAAIWo/wNHKSqnfXCk_y51kNVrOZqV0BRVoULtXwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9877.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p>For this card I started with a panel of Neenah white cardstock and inked up the leaves of the gorgeous Classic Pine Stencil set in Altenew Fresh Leaf and Moss inks, before stencilling the pine cones in Paper Bag & Dark Chocolate inks.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JhKuO2A5ZiE/YP0tcmXabdI/AAAAAAAAIWw/AS1OIbCbDfkxVUvJfj6BZ0kdbzglOFrrgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9899.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JhKuO2A5ZiE/YP0tcmXabdI/AAAAAAAAIWw/AS1OIbCbDfkxVUvJfj6BZ0kdbzglOFrrgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9899.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p><i><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><b>Tip: Look at your stencils to see if they can be used for different themes or seasons. To complete the card and add some shine, I used the enamel dots from the Tropical Forest set. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pZMPe13Eq6E/YP0twmlSb9I/AAAAAAAAIW4/bAVbX-X3aS41XNqXFYSeHU19edlNSZOfACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9878.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pZMPe13Eq6E/YP0twmlSb9I/AAAAAAAAIW4/bAVbX-X3aS41XNqXFYSeHU19edlNSZOfACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9878.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><b>CARD 4: ANNIVERSARY</b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TqdhysbesLo/YP0uBmWrVfI/AAAAAAAAIXA/vudM2UXbXhoHzX-USRSOjoRQAouxabg8wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9864.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TqdhysbesLo/YP0uBmWrVfI/AAAAAAAAIXA/vudM2UXbXhoHzX-USRSOjoRQAouxabg8wCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9864.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>For my final card I have been inspired by the 'For The Guys', 'Let It Shine' and 'Stencil Techniques' classes. </p><p>I chose to use the fun cup from the 'Friends Forever' stamp set for this card and was originally going to colour it with my Altenew markers, but then decided I really wanted to put a pattern on it instead. I first looking though my background and patterned stamps before choosing the 'Feeling Dotty' stencil and I love how it turned out! </p><p>I started by stamping the cup image twice on white Neenah card stock in permanent black ink. On the first image I used the stencil to add the dotty pattern to my cup. I first stencilled the dots in Caribbean Sky ink, before shifting the stencil over a little and adding the Arctic Mountain ink using the small ink blending tools (perfect for stencils!) and then fussy cut it out. </p><p>On the second cup I added some shading to the lid and cup band with Altenew Artist Markers (in TG02 & TG03). I stamped the 'U & Me' sentiment from the same stamp set on the band using the Arctic Mountain ink. I then fussy cut both pieces. I also stamped the straws in permanent black ink and added shading using the same markers before cutting them out and attaching all of the pieces together.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UeF8GtEm9JM/YP0urIy2DZI/AAAAAAAAIXI/puCJmUU6OXgmxbFMhzO7KJNd43tWUXr8gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9900.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UeF8GtEm9JM/YP0urIy2DZI/AAAAAAAAIXI/puCJmUU6OXgmxbFMhzO7KJNd43tWUXr8gCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9900.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>I stamped the heart from the same stamp set in black ink and coloured it with the R318 Altenew Artist marker to bring a pop of colour to the cup, and added some glossy accents to add shine. I am going to send this set to a dear friend who is having a rough time at the moment and I hope it will cheer her up a little.</p><p>I first created the card by cutting a piece of the circular packaging to fit on the top of a white A2 card base which I attached using double sided tape. I made sure to incorporate the gold strip on the packaging for some shine. And to follow through with the gold, I stamped the sentiment from the Fancy Greetings stamp set using clear embossing powder and heat setting with antique gold embossing powder. I then added some splatters using the gold paint from the Metallic watercolor set using the Altenew #3 round brush. I still felt it needed a little more shine, so I added some gold sequins to complete the card. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5O2nlJBRIDE/YP0wPnAPWnI/AAAAAAAAIXw/0QyXXlMBK20e983mmAHGkg8kK9nrLC6eACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9882.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5O2nlJBRIDE/YP0wPnAPWnI/AAAAAAAAIXw/0QyXXlMBK20e983mmAHGkg8kK9nrLC6eACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9882.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EjZKbai03tQ/YP0wTueBLSI/AAAAAAAAIX0/6qaupdI5f3MwoVUvdumqoXRret1rJaX9wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9883.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EjZKbai03tQ/YP0wTueBLSI/AAAAAAAAIX0/6qaupdI5f3MwoVUvdumqoXRret1rJaX9wCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9883.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p>For the bookmark I cut a piece of white Neenah cardstock to 6"x1.75". I cut a piece of the packaging to fit over the top of the bookmark, again incorporating the gold strip and attached it with double sided foam tape, being sure to leave enough room at the bottom for my sentiment. </p><p>I stamped the sentiment from the 'Tall Tale' stamp set using clear embossing ink and heat set with antique gold embossing powder. I again added gold splatter using the metallic watercolor set, as well as some gold sequins. I punched a whole in the top of the bookmark and added a tassle from my stash and also used a corner rounder punch on the bottom of the bookmark. </p><p>I really love the dramatic look of this packaging with the black background and it makes for a very eye catching project. Once this has been evaluated I will be given my final challenge for Level 2, and I am excited to see what that will be. </p><p>Today's card was created using the techniques I learned after completing the 'Masking Unleashed' Altenew Academy class with Svitlana Shayevich. I have used the basic masking techniques that Svitlana shared with us to create my project. And I have used these techniques to do both the masking of the individual images as well as masking both images to colour the background. So stay tuned to see how I created this card! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fDBlvAn46ZQ/YNw5pjw0IKI/AAAAAAAAIT4/D_6ivQZrpu0MSJd2M1Ymzsgjwmjp5qXmwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9541.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fDBlvAn46ZQ/YNw5pjw0IKI/AAAAAAAAIT4/D_6ivQZrpu0MSJd2M1Ymzsgjwmjp5qXmwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9541.heic" width="400" /></a></div><p>I started by creating masks for both of my images on masking paper. I stamped the masks and then cut them with my scissors. When cutting masks you want to cut a little inside the line so that there are no 'gaps' left when stamping your images over each other using the masks. </p><p>Once I had created the masks using the Succulents stamp set, I decided which order I wanted to stamp the images in, and since I knew I wanted the smaller pot plant at the front I stamped that one first. I then covered it with the paper mask, and stamped the second image. This was done on a piece of white Copic friendly card cut to 4"x5.25".</p><p>I then added the mask over the larger plant as well so that I could ink blend the background. I knew I wanted a two-tone background so I placed a strip of masking paper where I wanted the colours divided and inked up my background. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LFfBSC5C-nw/YNw6thfQhII/AAAAAAAAIUA/NC-B5-spvP08BHrg6Zgo5txL9oiL4sgNwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9531.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LFfBSC5C-nw/YNw6thfQhII/AAAAAAAAIUA/NC-B5-spvP08BHrg6Zgo5txL9oiL4sgNwCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/IMG_9531.HEIC" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p>Once that was done, I could remove all of the masks and get on with colouring my images with Copic Markers. The photo above is what it looked like at that point. </p><p>I then coloured my images with Copic Markers and added a sentiment from the 'Fancy Greetings' stamp set directly to the stamped background. I then mounted the completed panel onto a top folding A2 kraft card base using instant dimension foam tape, before adding some clear sequins to complete the card. </p><p>Masking can be time consuming, but I love the seemless look that you get. And I love how it looks like one stamped image. </p><p>Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoyed my project today :) </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PZSxd-2mkco/YNw7vI_ljbI/AAAAAAAAIUI/FOyt2QaSc1YwqIajr5mR6mH1pgzP1XoZACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9542.heic" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PZSxd-2mkco/YNw7vI_ljbI/AAAAAAAAIUI/FOyt2QaSc1YwqIajr5mR6mH1pgzP1XoZACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9542.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /> <div><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/succulents">Succulents Stamp Set</a></div><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/fancy-greetings-stamp-set"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">A</span>ltenew Fancy Greetings Stamp Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink">Altenew Permanent Black Ink</a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Copic Markers</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/instant-dimension-foam-tape" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape</a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Distress Oxides (tumbled glass and pumice stone)</div><div style="text-align: center;">Clear Sequins</div></span></div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline" /><p></p><p><br /></p></div>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-68718447509870086372021-06-30T13:20:00.002+08:002021-06-30T13:55:57.330+08:00Altenew - With A Twist<p>I am back today with another project for my AECP Level 2, and this time the class I have done is 'With A Twist' hosted by Therese Calvird. I really enjoyed this class and it was hard to choose which lesson I was going to base my card on, but ultimately decided on the 'shaker card with a twist' which Therese featured in Lesson 3. After all, I love a good shaker card and they always have that 'wow' factor when you give them to someone! And this is the kind of shaker that allows you to see right through to the inside of the card and I thought that was an awesome idea.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hFkPrcVKGLM/YNv9UFdLZRI/AAAAAAAAITg/rnVi-CGe3vwOIqbkUyGX2ZyJORjyeS7JwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9519%2B2.heic" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hFkPrcVKGLM/YNv9UFdLZRI/AAAAAAAAITg/rnVi-CGe3vwOIqbkUyGX2ZyJORjyeS7JwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9519%2B2.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I also decided to go with a masculine theme this time and the TO THE MOON stamp and die set was perfect for this project! I have had this set in my stash for a little while so was happy to finally get some ink on it. </p><p>So let me tell you how I created this fun card! You will need an A2 top folding white notecard, as well as a second panel for bending cut to 3.75"x5".</p><p>1. Ink blend the top panel in various shades of blues (if you wanted a more galaxy look, then adding some pinks and purples would look amazing!). I made a mark of where I was going to cut out my circle, so that I could do lighter ink coming out from that area to create a 'halo' effect. And I was sure to add some deeper black inking to the edges for contrast.</p><p>2. Die cut the smaller circle fro the 'To The Moon' die cut set towards the top of your panel to allow room for the sentiment at the bottom. </p><p>3. Line up the top panel on the A2 card base and die cut a circle in the front of the card in the same place so that the two holes will line up. </p><p>4. Use the white circle that was cut from the base to stamp your moon onto. I only stamped one of the moon patterned stamps from the set with Clear Embossing Ink and used a platinum coloured embossing powder which I set with my heat gun. Place this inside your card base, using the circle on the front as a guide so it lines up properly.</p><p>4. Place acetate over the top of the circle on the A2 card base and under the circle on the inked panel base. </p><p>5. Add Altenew instant dimension foam tape to the back of the inked panel and be sure to use a powder tool around the edge where the circle is. This will stop your shaker pieces sticking to the insides of the circle. </p><p>6. Lay your card base flat, and place your shaker components into the centre of the hole on the acetate, remove the backing from the foam tape and carefully place the top panel on top and press down to secure. </p><p>7. Stamp the sentiment onto black cardstock and heat set with white embossing powder, and cut he word word 'moon' four times from white card stock and layer together using the Altenew Precision Glue Pen and attach the sentiment to the front of your card. </p><p>8. I also used the Altenew precision glue pen to add a few of the little stars around the sentiment to complete the card. </p><p>I hope that you enjoyed this project. I certainly enjoyed creating it! And wherever you are in the world, I hope you have a fabulous day. We are in a short lockdown here in Western Australia so I am making the most of some crafting time and catching up on projects while I am stuck at home. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-krYVmoXkco8/YNv9p0c36FI/AAAAAAAAITs/5qb6JnniVO8xb8VC7hLtag2gTC9zyC2EACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9523.heic" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-krYVmoXkco8/YNv9p0c36FI/AAAAAAAAITs/5qb6JnniVO8xb8VC7hLtag2gTC9zyC2EACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9523.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dSNXTRSfK1k/YNv9nNBHBsI/AAAAAAAAITo/kUCT73QGrFwJxPJu4ptuMIwJXK3ETAJ4ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_9526.heic" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dSNXTRSfK1k/YNv9nNBHBsI/AAAAAAAAITo/kUCT73QGrFwJxPJu4ptuMIwJXK3ETAJ4ACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/IMG_9526.heic" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/mini-moon-stamp-die-bundle"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">T</span>o The Moon Stamp & Die Bundle</a></div><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/pure-white-crisp-embossing-powder" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Pure White Embossing Powder</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/embossing-ink"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">A</span>ltenew Clear EmbossingInk </a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/2-in-1-precision-glue-pen"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">A</span>ltenew Precision Glue Pen</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/instant-dimension-foam-tape"><span style="color: #3d85c6;">A</span>ltenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape</a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Distress Oxides</div><div style="text-align: center;">(Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Blueprint Sketch,</div><div style="text-align: center;">Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot)</div></span></div><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p> </p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-79521486945841583292021-04-26T15:34:00.002+08:002021-04-26T15:34:25.146+08:00Altenew - Magical Marker Techniques<p>Hello! Thanks for visiting my blog today. I have a new card to share as part of my Altenew Educator Certification Level 2. This one is for the class 'Magical Marker Techniques' by Sara Naumann. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zPJUjk8XpdE/YIZquSL3d5I/AAAAAAAAIRU/dJIKk38CN48_2SrEc7NNsJgat5D4fHRMACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/178983763_513017746378769_2876618298268458391_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zPJUjk8XpdE/YIZquSL3d5I/AAAAAAAAIRU/dJIKk38CN48_2SrEc7NNsJgat5D4fHRMACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/178983763_513017746378769_2876618298268458391_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p>For this card, I have used the technique from Lesson 4 where Sara used the Altenew Artist Markers and isopropyl or rubbing alcohol to create a splattered background. I also used the Altenew Artist Markers to colour the gorgeous image from 'Paint A Flower: Clematis'.</p><p>To start with I stamped the image with Altenew Permanent Black Crisp Dye Ink onto a panel of Express-It Blending card and then coloured the image with the markers (colours listed below). Once that was finished I decided to 'black out' the background using the black marker, which I was nervous about doing after spending hours colouring the image, but I found it really made the flowers and leaves pop!</p><p>I then trimmed the panel down and mounted it onto a piece of coordinating pink cardstock and added some foam tape to the panel and added it to an A2 card base. </p><p>I then followed Sara's instructions to add the splatter to the whole card using one of the pink and green markers that I had coloured the image with. I also added some white gel pen to add details to the flowers and leaves before adding the sentiment. </p><p>I used the Just For You stamp from the 'Sentiments 2' stamp set for my greeting which I stamped in clear embossing ink onto the pink card and embossed with Altenew crisp white embossing powder and added it to my raised panel with double sided tape to complete my project. </p><p>Artist Marker colours used: R502, R504, C003, WG01, WG03, G935, G825, G804, G702 & S (black).</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Em0Hr9mqdwA/YIZrBKPZGxI/AAAAAAAAIRg/FCH3l9GZRyY-u0mvDn3U54Qf8cynnneZgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/178979954_864182554177917_7672883029537745010_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Em0Hr9mqdwA/YIZrBKPZGxI/AAAAAAAAIRg/FCH3l9GZRyY-u0mvDn3U54Qf8cynnneZgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/178979954_864182554177917_7672883029537745010_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZiBsHWvb5Xg/YIZq_j6tggI/AAAAAAAAIRc/jforKpULmCk2qOtRSx1B6fBioJ5IxbxkwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/179147705_157410089555770_2593779465383401674_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZiBsHWvb5Xg/YIZq_j6tggI/AAAAAAAAIRc/jforKpULmCk2qOtRSx1B6fBioJ5IxbxkwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/179147705_157410089555770_2593779465383401674_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><div style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/paint-a-flower-clematis-outline-stamp-set">Paint A Flower: Clematis Stamp Set</a></div><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/pure-white-crisp-embossing-powder" style="font-family: Cantarell; text-decoration: none;">Altenew Pure White Embossing Powder</a></div><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Cantarell; text-align: center; text-decoration: none;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink" style="text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Altenew Permanet Black Ink</a> </div><div style="font-family: Cantarell; text-align: center; text-decoration: none;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/sentiment-strips-2-stamp-set" style="text-decoration: none;">Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/pages/search-results-page?q=artist+markers"></a><a href="https://altenew.com/pages/search-results-page?q=artist+markers">Altenew Artist Markers</a></div></span></div><p style="text-align: left;"><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-56747692123080171122021-03-21T14:30:00.006+08:002021-03-21T14:35:24.110+08:00Altenew - Creative Watercolor Media (Project 2)<p>EDITED: I JUST REALISED THAT I HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THIS CLASS! SO THIS IS A BONUS PROJECT. BUT I FIGURED I MAY AS WELL SHARE IT SINCE IT'S HERE . I MUST HAVE REALLY ENJOYED THIS ONE :) </p><p>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p>Hello! Happy Sunday (I say that with the realisation that it is probably not likely Sunday where you are right now) however it is a glorious sunny (and hot) Sunday afternoon here and we are enjoying what may be the last of the very hot days before Autumn really kicks in here in Australia. </p><p>For todays project for my AECP Level 2 Certification, I have created a card after completing the Creative Watercolor Media Class (specifically Lesson 3 with Laura Bassen). Laura demonstrating water colouring using the Altenew Inks which is what I have done on my project. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bXu_jL_RyjI/YFblGdp4BxI/AAAAAAAAIQ0/uHXiJf4u-uI0Yw8Wmq_BRKtvZ-061RMvQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/163304418_498564238198851_6722972896523809753_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bXu_jL_RyjI/YFblGdp4BxI/AAAAAAAAIQ0/uHXiJf4u-uI0Yw8Wmq_BRKtvZ-061RMvQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/163304418_498564238198851_6722972896523809753_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p>I am using an image from the new Tall Tale stamp set from the recent release and have stamped it onto a piece of Altenew watercolour paper in black obsidian pigment ink, and then heat set with clear embossing powder. I followed with by stamping the sentiment the same way.</p><p>I then coloured the images using various colours of Altenew Crisp Dye ink which I picked up from a non stick craft mat using the new Altenew paint brushes. </p><p>Once my image was completed I trimmed the panel down to 4"x5.25" and placed on a top folding black A2 card base using foam tape. I then added some clear sequins to complete the card. </p><p>This was a very fun and quick card to make and I love using my inks in this way. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eNWbVsgw6jo/YFbmOVAUYJI/AAAAAAAAIQ8/Gu4PKafmIcgi4aGIIoYJFVP-NPyqAc74ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/163123270_876975416211046_2664000855251557813_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eNWbVsgw6jo/YFbmOVAUYJI/AAAAAAAAIQ8/Gu4PKafmIcgi4aGIIoYJFVP-NPyqAc74ACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/163123270_876975416211046_2664000855251557813_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p style="text-align: center;">Supplies:<br /><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/tall-tale-stamp-die-bundle" target="_blank">Tall Tale Stamp Set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/obsidian-pigment-ink" target="_blank">Altenew Black Obsidian Pigment Ink</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/crystal-clear-crisp-embossing-powder" target="_blank">Clear Embossing Powder</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/pages/search-results-page?q=crisp+dye+ink" target="_blank">Various colours of Altenew Crisp Dye Inks (full list of colours used is below).</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/artists-watercolor-brushes-detailed" target="_blank">Altenew Artist Detailed Watercolor Brush Set</a></span></p><p>Ink colours used: Dark Chocolate, Mango Smoothie, Fresh Leaf, Icy Water, Winter Lake, Arctic Mountain, Canyon Clay and Puffy Heart. </p><p><br /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-45420883823723314302021-03-21T12:31:00.001+08:002021-03-21T12:31:31.005+08:00Altenew - Color Your Day<p> Hello friends! </p><p>Today I wanted to share with you my latest card project for the Altenew Educator Certification Program, Level 2. </p><p>I have created this card based on lesson 4 of the <a href="https://altenew.com/products/color-your-day" target="_blank">Color Your Day class by Therese Calvird</a>. Lesson 4 is all about adding color to your projects using layering stamps with inks. I have also used stencils to add color to this project today. The new Altenew layering stamps that come with coordinating stencils make this technique so fun and easy! </p><p>Now let's get onto the card shall we? </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SPp6VMsrLdk/YFbIjlQr_zI/AAAAAAAAIQk/GWqhkIjwxe81LnqYFwh7x9kTum6wdGlXgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/163413405_437739503972398_6332531815011026565_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SPp6VMsrLdk/YFbIjlQr_zI/AAAAAAAAIQk/GWqhkIjwxe81LnqYFwh7x9kTum6wdGlXgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/163413405_437739503972398_6332531815011026565_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>I have used the stunning new 'Book Engravings' stamp, die and stencil bundle today as well as the Angled Mosaic Embossing Folder. I am loving all of the new embossing folders that Altenew have released lately and it was hard to choose which one to use on this card! </p><p>I started by stamping the flower and leaf images onto white cardstock using Altenew Permanent Black Ink then for the leaves I used the coordinating stencil to ink up the solid layer using Limeade ink. The second layer was stamped using the layering stamp in Forest Glades ink. </p><p>The flowers were first inked with the stencil in Misty Morning ink. The second layer was stamped in Cloudy Sky ink and the final layer was stamped in Nimbus. I just love this colour combination for an unusual flower colour. To finish them off I added some detail using a white gel pen. </p><p>I then die cut all of my pieces before embossing a panel of white cardstock using the Angled Mosaic embossing folder. I used double sided foam tape to attach that to a black top folding A2 card base and used more double sided tape foam to arrange the flowers and leaves for even more dimension.</p><p>I stamped the Love And Hugs sentiment from the sketchy florals stamp set in Versamark ink onto black card and embossed with Altenew Pure White embossing powder. I attached it to the card with double sided foam tape before adding some black enamel dots from the Green Fields set to complete the panel. </p><p>I hope you enjoyed my project today and I look forward to sharing more with you soon! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qOrnzURyFUE/YFbKQyXKlGI/AAAAAAAAIQs/sQI5TOm33Q4h1qVsXEppDZnGN1Wf3piDwCLcBGAsYHQ/s960/163575837_205822164664248_7803294165296555830_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="960" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qOrnzURyFUE/YFbKQyXKlGI/AAAAAAAAIQs/sQI5TOm33Q4h1qVsXEppDZnGN1Wf3piDwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/163575837_205822164664248_7803294165296555830_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><p style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/book-engravings-stamp-die-coloring-stencil-bundle" target="_blank">Book Engravings Stamp, Die & Stencil Bundle</a><br /><span style="color: #3d85c6;">Sketchy Florals Stamp Set</span><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/tranquility-mini-cube-set" target="_blank">Altenew Inks: Tranquility Cube Set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/green-fields-enamel-dots" target="_blank">Enamel Dots in Green Fields</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink" style="text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Altenew Permanet Black Ink</a><span style="color: #3d85c6; text-align: left;"> </span><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/angled-mosaic-3d-embossing-folder" style="text-align: left;">Angled Mosaic Embossing Folder</a></p><p><br /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-58390751569068012792021-01-20T08:43:00.007+08:002021-01-20T08:43:51.140+08:00Altenew - Polychromatic<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HfxT_8jljt8/YAd8jBoUt4I/AAAAAAAAIPc/enCe2U30dQIUbquicDjUuRh_et3rxxlawCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/140197406_1298710790512820_3993499177405323024_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HfxT_8jljt8/YAd8jBoUt4I/AAAAAAAAIPc/enCe2U30dQIUbquicDjUuRh_et3rxxlawCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/140197406_1298710790512820_3993499177405323024_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I'm back with another card for the Altenew Educator Certification Program, this time from the Polychromatic Class taught by Nina-Marie Trapani.</p><p>I decided to use the tips in Lesson 4 which shows you how to use close colours (or shades of the same colour) from the same colour family. </p><p>I decided to use the blue/teal colours to create this get well card for my mum who has recently been in hospital together with the new Tranquility Rose Simple Coloring Stencil Set. </p><p>I started by using a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb card stock cut to 4.25"x8.5" (which would be cut down a little smaller later on) and I inked the three layers of the stencil to create a floral background. I started with the lightest ink of Mountain Mist, then went to Volcano Lake and finished with Lagoon for the top and darkest layer of the stencil. These are from the Sea Shore mini ink pad set. </p><p>I then cut the panel down by 1/2" off the side and the top and added a little more ink around the edges, as I found this helped it to 'pop' off the white base a little better. </p><p>I Inked up some more card stock in the Lagoon ink and die cut the shadow word hugs from the Hello & Hugs die set, and did the top layer of the word in white. I then stamped the "sending healing' from the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set onto white card and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I then inked that strip with the Lagoon ink also so that it would all match perfectly.</p><p>I layered the sentiments onto the panel with foam tape and then used more foam tape to attach the completed panel to the white top folding note card. Adding a few clear sequins completed the card. </p><p>I think this card design would look great in any colour combination! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o919hsgTETY/YAd8tTUYb_I/AAAAAAAAIPg/iB3pQxuuwZI5P2j8UZbF_OcuLz0xypXywCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/140285143_405464914023408_814826922538323048_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o919hsgTETY/YAd8tTUYb_I/AAAAAAAAIPg/iB3pQxuuwZI5P2j8UZbF_OcuLz0xypXywCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/140285143_405464914023408_814826922538323048_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Supplies:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/tranquility-rose-simple-coloring-stencil-set">Tranquility Rose Simple Coloring Stencil Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/sea-shore-mini-cube-set">Sea Shore Dye Ink Mini Cube Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/sentiment-strips-2-stamp-set">Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/hello-and-hugs-stamp-die-bundle" target="_blank">Hello & Hugs Die Set</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/pure-white-crisp-embossing-powder" target="_blank">White Embossing Powder</a></div><p></p><p style="text-align: center;">Thanks for visiting today and I hope you enjoyed my project. </p><p><br /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-87790797814292045862021-01-19T23:49:00.003+08:002021-02-07T21:10:52.951+08:00Altenew Creativity Inspired: Craft Room Makeover<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mkHu1xUMYbc/YB_mzGyB6kI/AAAAAAAAIP8/6LISW7OtMWUZStdzQWgSQPg6_CdyFySrgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1862/Screen%2BShot%2B2021-02-07%2Bat%2B9.07.59%2Bpm.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1258" data-original-width="1862" height="270" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mkHu1xUMYbc/YB_mzGyB6kI/AAAAAAAAIP8/6LISW7OtMWUZStdzQWgSQPg6_CdyFySrgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h270/Screen%2BShot%2B2021-02-07%2Bat%2B9.07.59%2Bpm.png" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QQjFD4DJIrE/YAb1dQYEWrI/AAAAAAAAIMw/jtm0njyZgIAkRtjRhqxkYJVpHr-A4FKRgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/138665448_220535512945110_9008364818175305955_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QQjFD4DJIrE/YAb1dQYEWrI/AAAAAAAAIMw/jtm0njyZgIAkRtjRhqxkYJVpHr-A4FKRgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h300/138665448_220535512945110_9008364818175305955_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p><a href="https://blog.altenew.com/ready-to-win-some-prizes-simply-organized-creativity-inspired-craft-room-makeover-contest-2021/">Altenew have a great contest on their blog</a> at the moment to share the space where you create, and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share my newly renovated craft room with you. I also love to see where other people create and am always looking for new organisational tips and ideas.</p><p>When my eldest daughter moved out last January I started to think about how I could use her space for extra storage since I had long outgrown my small craft room (which was 2.5 metres x 3.3metres) and I felt very overcrowded in my space and found that I was spending less and less time in there. </p><p>Finally we decided that knocking the wall down (easy to do since the rooms are side by side) would be the best option and would double my current space. So the week before Christmas the builder came in and started the demolition. The whole project started on a Monday and was completed ready to move in by the Friday ... so quick! Just in time to get everything back in before Christmas and before my upcoming hip replacement surgery on 4th January because I knew I would be out of action for a while.</p><p>COLOUR: After having the same color in my craft room for almost 12 years I decided to change it up and went for a soft blue/seafoam colour which I am loving, as I find it such a calming colour. </p><p>PLANNING: I used a room planning website (like planyourroom.com) in the weeks leading up to the renovation so that I could move the furniture around and work out my configuration on the plans before moving everything back in. This allowed me to know exactly how everything would fit and what extra pieces I needed to buy from Ikea to complete the new set up. The rest of the pieces I already had. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1uHAAkaE7J4/YAb-l00lm5I/AAAAAAAAIPQ/2k-6gHs0wL401FK37-UStCAgv1WQCfZFQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/131321747_882666502499380_323935480476871595_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1391" data-original-width="2048" height="271" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1uHAAkaE7J4/YAb-l00lm5I/AAAAAAAAIPQ/2k-6gHs0wL401FK37-UStCAgv1WQCfZFQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h271/131321747_882666502499380_323935480476871595_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>WORK STATIONS: I decided to set up different productivity zones or areas in my room.. For example I purchased a new cabinet that was just the right height so that I could set my die cutting machines on top and use it as a die-cutting station, but the cabinet also provided a lot of extra storage. My cutting plates for my machines also sit within reach on a peg board directly above and extra die cutting equipment is in the cabinet below.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oR1eKCEAZpI/YAb2AyUV_QI/AAAAAAAAIM4/kJmF9hVnXt4pYBw6z7ERK6aaDsWidPqOgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/138187190_322106632385535_2863745909581320411_n.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oR1eKCEAZpI/YAb2AyUV_QI/AAAAAAAAIM4/kJmF9hVnXt4pYBw6z7ERK6aaDsWidPqOgCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/138187190_322106632385535_2863745909581320411_n.jpg" width="300" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DFgBHsoJoFM/YAb2C78mFSI/AAAAAAAAIM8/ZBNwPddkpxUVhPPjqdb1KbZTNzoayKBMQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/138592182_2515184022118085_1120246125810856909_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DFgBHsoJoFM/YAb2C78mFSI/AAAAAAAAIM8/ZBNwPddkpxUVhPPjqdb1KbZTNzoayKBMQCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/138592182_2515184022118085_1120246125810856909_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><p>I decided on two desks, one a computer/office desk and the other for crafting. The office desk is also great if a friend wants to come and craft with me and it doubles as extra space for planning out kits for the classes that I teach. This combination gives me 3 metres of workable desk space! More than double what I had previously. I also decided to place them directly under the windows and I love the natural light that this gives me. It meant I didn't have a wall in front to store items, but adding drawers under the desk solved that problem. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GtJ6Kd6t8bQ/YAb2s3FDnaI/AAAAAAAAINM/VAmmS6DDpKg42XHJfJGAKSGDNfDxgDF7gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/138319914_209440830873240_101841341051147322_n.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GtJ6Kd6t8bQ/YAb2s3FDnaI/AAAAAAAAINM/VAmmS6DDpKg42XHJfJGAKSGDNfDxgDF7gCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/138319914_209440830873240_101841341051147322_n.jpg" width="300" /></a><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VFZ4uDBHjv4/YAb2p2QrADI/AAAAAAAAINI/0OHsutnry9A9yl0P9jpflRghWt5siPbGgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/138795609_765324724069353_168886544189623334_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VFZ4uDBHjv4/YAb2p2QrADI/AAAAAAAAINI/0OHsutnry9A9yl0P9jpflRghWt5siPbGgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/138795609_765324724069353_168886544189623334_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>All of my colouring mediums are now in a trolley on wheels, which is easy to move around as I need it and can be stored out of the way when I don't.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I56lWo-Pxx0/YAb3D6fBfPI/AAAAAAAAINY/WyMshh_Sh-omxitqp5TOLUeSpEq-cogMgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/138770337_1152098738588396_9141033895489247649_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I56lWo-Pxx0/YAb3D6fBfPI/AAAAAAAAINY/WyMshh_Sh-omxitqp5TOLUeSpEq-cogMgCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/138770337_1152098738588396_9141033895489247649_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><p>I added drawers under my desk as I mentioned above, to allow me to put everything I use frequently close at hand. And at the moment I am off work recovering from a total hip replacement so it's good to be able to get into my new craft room and play! </p><p>I have a cousin who has also having a rough time lately and has been in hospital in Queensland, so I decided to use the <a href="http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2021/01/just-add-ink-537-blog-hop.html" target="_blank">Family challenge from Just Add Ink</a> to make and send her a card to lift her spirits. </p><p>I have created a slimline card featuring a distress inked and stencilled background. When it came time to choosing my project, I decided on the monochromatic colouring techniques discussed in Lesson 5, taught by Marika Rahtu. </p><p>My first choice would usually be to use a floral image for monochromatic colouring but this time I went with something a little more graphic, and I was wanting to use my new 'Friends Forever' stamp set that I recently purchased. </p><p>I chose a grey cardstock for my base this time for something different, and coloured the image with my French Grey Prismacolor Pencils. Once I finished colouring the image, I decided to cut it out and pop it up a little on the same grey cardstock panel (die cut with a stitched border) and added a little shading underneath the image using a black pastel pencil.</p><p>I stamped the sentiment from the Leaf Canopy stamp set directly onto the card front and splattered the panel with white gouache and added a few clear sequins. I then mounted it onto a white top folding card base with foam tape for dimension and my card was done. </p><p>I really like how this card came out and look forward to doing some more monochromatic colouring soon! </p><p>Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoyed my project. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xjlJOIy3pOA/X-igOu578UI/AAAAAAAAIL8/08ccg_SP41EeuQlhGHB7QM5Z95pTpZ4ZwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/133553759_856417061759323_7391423221355844409_n.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xjlJOIy3pOA/X-igOu578UI/AAAAAAAAIL8/08ccg_SP41EeuQlhGHB7QM5Z95pTpZ4ZwCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/133553759_856417061759323_7391423221355844409_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/friends-forever-stamp-die-bundle" target="_blank">Friends Forever Stamp set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/leaf-canopy-stamp-die-bundle" target="_blank">Leaf Canopy Stamp Set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink" target="_blank">Permanent Black Ink</a> <br />Prismacolor Pencils<br />White Gouache</p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-22711431478764064972020-12-27T22:44:00.003+08:002020-12-27T22:44:37.283+08:00Altenew - Beyond Basic Backgrounds<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vIAW9dUIjJo/X-ibWkhX4GI/AAAAAAAAILc/v-VHRIo_VsM9_zSuFDoeAC4NMjN63zjcQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/133511203_210043224063958_7382971861187178607_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vIAW9dUIjJo/X-ibWkhX4GI/AAAAAAAAILc/v-VHRIo_VsM9_zSuFDoeAC4NMjN63zjcQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/133511203_210043224063958_7382971861187178607_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Here is my latest card for the Level 2 AECP Certification. This one was for the great class by Llydia Evans called 'Beyond Basic Backgrounds'. I chose to use the example taught in Lesson 6 - Inlaid Die Cutting. </p><p>My first instinct was to use white cardstock as my base with a black outline, but I thought I would mix it up and do my die-cutting into black for a more dramatic look and I love how it came out! </p><p>I chose the 'Wavy Outlines' Die as it was relatively new to me and I had not had the chance to use it yet and this project was perfect!</p><p>I die cut the flower from the black panel first and then placed a piece of adhesive paper on the back so that I could use that to keep my inlaid pieces in place. </p><p>I then cut the flower from white, green and coral coloured card. I laid the white outline in first, and then the flowers and leaves. Before placing the flowers and leaves in place, I inked around the edges of the coral card pieces with Ruby Red ink and the green card pieces with Fresh Leaf ink to add some shading, and then put the pieces in place. Just like doing a jigsaw puzzle! </p><p>Once they were in place, I used a coordinating green mat, and then mounted them both onto a white card base. I stamped the sentiment from 'Sentiment Strips 2' in Permanent Black ink onto white card, cut it into a strip and mounted it on the card front with foam tape for dimension. </p><p>I then placed a few enamel dots from the Tropical Forest collection to finish the card off. </p><p>I love the dramatic look of this card and I hope you do too! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UQb12fLUKPQ/X-ic0W_DdcI/AAAAAAAAILs/Y7CeM9cuxFQqOsRr9M7Tg0l--KGq7NXHQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/133747906_208327787507929_7919495584580358238_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UQb12fLUKPQ/X-ic0W_DdcI/AAAAAAAAILs/Y7CeM9cuxFQqOsRr9M7Tg0l--KGq7NXHQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/133747906_208327787507929_7919495584580358238_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xoban7jhMe8/X-icqGtcuCI/AAAAAAAAILo/zJeeKReHkQkthcYn26eVwBoz5oT2vsnoQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/133206545_778954669362895_6189266306162590767_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xoban7jhMe8/X-icqGtcuCI/AAAAAAAAILo/zJeeKReHkQkthcYn26eVwBoz5oT2vsnoQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/133206545_778954669362895_6189266306162590767_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/wavy-outlines-die-set" target="_blank">Wavy Outlines Die</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/sentiment-strips-2-stamp-set" target="_blank">Sentiment Strips 2 stamps set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/pages/search-results-page?q=crisp+dye+ink" target="_blank">Altenew Inks: Fresh Leaf and Ruby Red</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/tropical-forest-enamel-dots" target="_blank">Enamel Dots in Tropical Forest</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink" target="_blank">Altenew Permanet Black Ink</a></p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p><br /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-40835430377069476792020-12-27T22:29:00.000+08:002020-12-27T22:29:22.717+08:00Altenew - Impressive Heat Embossing<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2xGJgLSRQ9s/X-iTqESTrII/AAAAAAAAILI/xAnY8tTH_688ZISKakm146BFTjV6x054QCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/133285810_807486646466100_5378676273837787540_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2xGJgLSRQ9s/X-iTqESTrII/AAAAAAAAILI/xAnY8tTH_688ZISKakm146BFTjV6x054QCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/133285810_807486646466100_5378676273837787540_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I'm here to share another card for my Level 2 AECP Certification. </p><p>I have always loved heat embossing, it is one of the things that got me really excited when I first started making cards about 23 years ago, and it still has that wow factor! So I really loved the 'Impressive Heat Embossing' class with Svetlana Marchenko. </p><p>I chose to use the example in Lesson 3 of Emboss Resist using inking. The Altenew inks are perfect for ink blending and work so well together. </p><p>I started by stamping the gorgeous image from 'Arabesque Medallion' onto Bristol smooth cardstock in Altenew Clear Embossing Ink. I then heat set it with Altenew Pure White Embossing powder. Once it was cool I blended the inks going from dark to light at the top. I started with Ruby Red, then Coral Berry, Orange Cream and Citrus Burst. I love how these colours look like a sunset. I then wiped over the image with a paper towel to brighten up the stamped image again.</p><p>Once it was dry I trimmed down the panel and splattered some white gouache onto the front and attached it to a white card base using foam tape for dimension. I then stamped the sentiment from 'Sentiment Strips 2' onto black card using clear embossing ink and pure white embossing powder before cutting it into a strip and attaching it to the front of the card. I added a few clear dew drops to complete the card. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AfKQL86ds-w/X-iT8vHoN4I/AAAAAAAAILQ/cAJjktM1EbUfpNC4rLiejIZU5BevP-fMACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/133598103_471976200455858_2208472923383240598_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AfKQL86ds-w/X-iT8vHoN4I/AAAAAAAAILQ/cAJjktM1EbUfpNC4rLiejIZU5BevP-fMACLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/133598103_471976200455858_2208472923383240598_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">Supplies:<br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/arabesque-medallion-stamp-set">Arabesque Medallion Stamp Set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/sentiment-strips-2-stamp-set" target="_blank">Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/pages/search-results-page?q=crisp+dye+ink" target="_blank">Altenew Crisp Dye Inks: Ruby Red, Coral Berry, Orange Cream & Citrus Burst</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/embossing-ink" target="_blank">Altenew Clear Embossing Ink </a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/pages/search-results-page?q=pure+white+crisp+embossing+powder" target="_blank">Pure White Embossing Powder</a><br /><span style="text-align: left;">Bristol Smooth Cardstock</span></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-6778803224131180472020-12-27T21:45:00.004+08:002020-12-27T21:45:36.553+08:00Altenew - In The Mood For Color<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8XjHd8y1U7w/X-iN-wokxSI/AAAAAAAAIK0/0Dz8RGpHvc8aGRUhBPInkiWeBeiWmgXQgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/133356245_213324263612391_6441535740683693945_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8XjHd8y1U7w/X-iN-wokxSI/AAAAAAAAIK0/0Dz8RGpHvc8aGRUhBPInkiWeBeiWmgXQgCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/133356245_213324263612391_6441535740683693945_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>It's been a while between projects, but things have been crazy around here with renovations to my craft room, Christmas and just the general madness that is 2020. And I've gotta say, never have I been more excited about leaving a year behind! </p><p>As I mentioned, I have been renovating my craft space and we removed a wall to join the spare bedroom so I now have double the space I had before! I am hoping the new more organised, and decluttered space will inspire me to craft more in the new year. Although I am having a total hip replacement next Monday so that will have me off work and somewhat out of action for 4-6 weeks. But then there will be no stopping me and my bionic hip! LOL</p><p>For now, I have a project to share with you as part of my Level 2 AECP Certification. This card is for the class 'In The Mood For Color' with Stephanie Klauck. I have always been a fan of Stephanie's work so was excited to do her class. This was all about how different colours portray different emotions. I have chosen <span style="color: #ea9999;">PINK</span> as it represents caring, sensitivity and sweetness. I also chose a sentiment that ties in with that theme. </p><p>I have used the Sweet Flowers stamp set which I have stamped on Neenah 110lb cardstock in black ink, and coloured with Prismacolor pencils. I then stamped the sentiment from the Heartfelt Sentiments stamp set in Altenew Embossing Ink and set with Altenew Pure White Embossing Powder. I cut it into a strip and used double sided foam tape to attach it to the card front and add some dimension. I trimmed down the panel and mounted it onto a black mat and then again onto a white top folding card base. </p><p>I added a few sequins to complete the card. I hope you enjoyed my project, and I will have a few more to share soon, as I had to make use of the week I had between Christmas and my surgery to get a projects completed! But I hope it won't be long before I am back enjoying my new craft space. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fvh3tvVdlKE/X-iOJ1l2qUI/AAAAAAAAIK4/D1QMkO2Drb4fdJcg4OQ8dPb-riB62NZcQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/133810403_427180091657876_5030715289170235294_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fvh3tvVdlKE/X-iOJ1l2qUI/AAAAAAAAIK4/D1QMkO2Drb4fdJcg4OQ8dPb-riB62NZcQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/133810403_427180091657876_5030715289170235294_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">Supplies:</p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/sweet-flowers-stamp-set?_pos=1&_sid=3e49ebf77&_ss=r">Sweet Flowers Stamp Set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/heartfelt-sentiments-stamp-set">Heartfelt Sentiments Stamp Set</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/pure-white-crisp-embossing-powder">Altenew Pure White Embossing Powder</a><br /><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink">Altenew Permanent Black Ink</a><br />Prismacolor Pencils<br />Sequins</p><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-12622760434852518532020-10-14T18:15:00.003+08:002020-10-14T18:15:55.038+08:00Altenew - Creative Watercolor Media<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-axVMVG-n-kc/X4bLhmU2e_I/AAAAAAAAIKA/n7m_eV_yJuQSn4TuPwPHykuCwkGdOWxVQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/121593299_634193597248934_5897572386747851916_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-axVMVG-n-kc/X4bLhmU2e_I/AAAAAAAAIKA/n7m_eV_yJuQSn4TuPwPHykuCwkGdOWxVQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/121593299_634193597248934_5897572386747851916_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p>Well after a few months hiatus, I am finally embarking on my AECP Level 2 projects! What a ride 2020 has been, the world is in such a crazy place right now and things have been anything but normal this year. So I hope that this blog post finds you safe and well. </p><p>For todays project, I am sharing a card I completed after finishing the 'Creative Watercolor Media' course. And the lesson I got my inspiration from today, was Lesson 5 with Debby Hughes who shared an inked/watercolor smooshed background using Altenew Inks. </p><p>I loved the colours so much that I used those same colours on my project. However instead of creating a watercolored image, I coloured the gorgeous flower from the Positive Vibes stamp set using a graphite pencil. This really allowed the background to pop behind the neutral image. </p><p>I started by stamping the image in Altenew Jet Black Ink onto Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock. I then coloured it with graphite pencils, and blended with a little Gamsol solution before die cutting the image and putting it aside to create my background. </p><p>For the background I added the Coral Berry and Warm Sunshine inks onto my craft mat and spritzed with water. Then using a piece of Altenew A2 watercolor cardstock I dipped the card into the inks. I dried between the layers and repeated this process 3 times. Once it was completely dry I die cut the background with a stitched rectangle and mounted it to a top folding Neenah card base with foam tape. I then used more foam tape to add the floral image to the front. </p><p>I stamped the sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set in Altenew Embossing Ink onto black cardstock and heat set with white embossing powder. I trimmed the strip down and attached it to the card using foam tape. </p><p>To complete the card I added some clear sequins. </p><p>I hope you enjoyed this project, and thanks for visiting my blog today! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f0W53rE7dyk/X4bLtVLbZfI/AAAAAAAAIKE/yomB4k_Y2sUvAcjIG462dnEcPzQruUxvQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/121480459_1039295326492588_4915759516970533751_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f0W53rE7dyk/X4bLtVLbZfI/AAAAAAAAIKE/yomB4k_Y2sUvAcjIG462dnEcPzQruUxvQCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h400/121480459_1039295326492588_4915759516970533751_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Supplies:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/positive-vibes-stamp-die-bundle">Altenew Positive Vibes Stamp & Die Bundle</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/watercolor-paper-set-a2-loose-sheets">Altenew A2 Watercolor Paper</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/coral-berry-crisp-dye-ink">Coral Berry Ink</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/warm-sunshine-crisp-dye-ink">Warm Sunshine Ink</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/embossing-ink">Clear Embossing Ink</a></div><div><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/permanent-black-crisp-ink" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Altenew Permanent Black Ink</a></div><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/products/pure-white-crisp-embossing-powder" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Altenew Pure White Embossing Powder</a></div><div style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); color: #666666; font-family: Cantarell; font-size: 13.199999809265137px; text-align: center;"><a href="https://altenew.com/collections/paper-1/products/classic-crest-solar-white" style="color: #3d85c6; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Neenah Solar White Card</a></div><p><br /></p></div>Jodenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12706456517180873769noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21387571.post-77023084117028067662020-07-05T16:59:00.000+08:002020-07-05T22:22:48.388+08:00Altenew Educator Certification Program - Level 1 Final Assessment<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hello and welcome! You might want to grab a cuppa (or other beverage of choice, depending on where you are in the world) and get comfy, because this is going to be a long post! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u8VIBs30jto/XwF6waxkHMI/AAAAAAAAIE4/Kb8cSFCyaWwOEVlO5NbRKdNyamzvIiM1wCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_3520.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u8VIBs30jto/XwF6waxkHMI/AAAAAAAAIE4/Kb8cSFCyaWwOEVlO5NbRKdNyamzvIiM1wCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/IMG_3520.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This is my final assessment project for the Level 1 AECP Certification and for this project I had specific guidelines to follow which were as follows:<br />
<br />
* Select any 3 components from the classes in Level 1 (I ended up using a total of 12 lessons from 6 different classes).<br />
* Explain the 3 components that you've chosen for the projects.<br />
* Create a his & her card set as a gift set with a minimum of 6 cards per set for a total of 12 cards.<br />
* The cards should have a cohesive theme.<br />
* Use one recycled element on a set or packaging. I used some recycled embellishments, brown paper as well as recycled mini pizza boxes and brown paper to create my packaging.<br />
* Create this blogpost and include a minimum of 10 photos.<br />
* The timeline for this was 14 days, and I have to say this was quite a challenge with work being really busy at the moment! But I did it! and I didn't get too many new grey hairs in the process :)<br />
<br />
I decided to make these card sets as a gift for my mum, as she loves to give out my hand made cards and has been running low for a while now, so this was a great excuse to top up her stash! So with that in mind some are specific for upcoming birthdays in the coming year (like a family members 21st) etc.<br />
<br />
I will mention the supplies I use for each card in bold type as I go, but I will put a complete supplies list with links at the very end of this post, as I use many of the items more than once and don't want to keep repeating myself with a list at the end of every card (and let's face it, you would need more than one cuppa for that!)<br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-size: large;">MASCULINE CARD SET</span></b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wx7ZpGB_W00/XwF7ZCVk8tI/AAAAAAAAIFA/u7QouJ_RhJM4SJyBjkXBPWJ3dwgb30M2wCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/IMG_3513.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wx7ZpGB_W00/XwF7ZCVk8tI/AAAAAAAAIFA/u7QouJ_RhJM4SJyBjkXBPWJ3dwgb30M2wCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/IMG_3513.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So let's get to it! I will start with the masculine card set. I was struggling at first with this one, as masculine cards are a real challenge for me at the best of times and my Altenew Stamp sets (and I have a lot!) are mostly floral and sentiments! But I had the gorgeous Celestial Paper Pad that I have been hoarding and thought it would be perfect as the basis for my masculine cards and by using a little on each card, would tie them all together and give them a cohesive feel. This paper die cuts beautifully and has a wonderful sheen to it. So I tried to keep this set simple & uncluttered and I love the way they turned out.<br />

INSTRUCTIONS:<br />
<br />
* Die cut a pice of the <b>Celestial Paper Pad</b> using the <b>Striped Leaf Cover Die </b>and attach to the front of a piece of white card.<br />
* Using foam tape, attach the complete panel to the front of a white card base for added dimension.<br />
* Using another pice of the same patterned paper (there are multiples of each design in the pack), stamp the sentiments from the <b>Sentiment Strips 2</b> stamp set in Versamark ink and heat set with white embossing powder.<br />
* Cut into thin strips and attach to the front of the card using foam tape.<br />
* Add gold sequins to complete the card.<br />
<br />
<b>TIP: </b> To create a cohesive feel, I lined the same pieces of patterned paper up with each other and worked out where I wanted my sentiment before stamping, so that when I layered it on top it would line up with the pattern on the background.<br />

I was originally going to box all of the cards together, however with envelopes included they would not fit so I made a separate gift box for each set of cards and envelopes and that way I could also match the packaging to the cards.<br />
<br />
We save a lot of packaging at work that we re-use where possible and I managed to find two small 6"x6" pizza boxes (one was a little marked but you can't see it once it is folded inside out and covered). I also used recycled brown paper that our cardstock comes wrapped in.<br />

<br />
INSTRUCTIONS:<br />
<br />
* Fold the pizza boxes inside out so that they were white on the outside, and place the cards and envelopes inside.<br />
* Wrap the box in brown paper.<br />
* Create a belly band with pieces of the <b>Galactic Paper Pad</b> which is cut to 3" strips and join them in the middle where the tag would hang so you could not see it.<br />
* Wrap some silver thread around the band.<br />
* Cut a circle from two different pieces of the <b>Galactic Paper Pad</b> and cut the striped piece in half and attach it to the bottom of the circle.<br />
* Die cut the letters from the <b>Tall Alpha Dies</b> three times from white cardstock and once from silver foil card. Layer together with liquid glue and attach to the tag.<br />
* Add some silver recycled star embellishments with liquid glue.<br />
* Use a punch to put a whole it the tag to add some thread and attach to the package.<br />
* At this point I felt it was still a bit plain so I stamped some small stars from the <b>Starry Night</b> stamp set in <b>Galactic Stream Ink</b>.<br />

INSTRUCTIONS:<br />
<br />
* Stamp the image from the <b>Delicate Bouquet</b> stamp set onto a piece of <b>Altenew A2 Watercolour Card </b>using Versamark ink and heat set with <b>white embossing powder</b>.<br />
* Ink the four colours randomly over the image using a blending brush. The colours I chose were <b>Citrus Burst, Baby Pink, Aqualicious and Limeade</b>.<br />
* Place some of the ink onto a craft mat and spritz with water. Then using a wet paintbrush, paint over using the same colours on top of each other. Leave to dry.<br />
* Repeat this step but use slightly deeper colours. For this I used <b>Magenta, Teal Cave</b> and distress inks Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron.<br />
* Pick up some of the colours using a brush and flick onto the background to create some splatter and leave to dry.<br />
* Stamp the 'just because' sentiment from the <b>Fancy Greetings</b> stamp set using black pigment ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.<br />
* Cut the completed panel down to 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" and mount to a black A2 card base using foam tape.<br />
* Add some clear droplets using liquid glue to complete the card.<br />

And that's it! That wraps up all of my cards for this project. And what a project! I think it took me almost as long to write this blog post as it did to make the cards. Haha! But I had a lot of fun doing all of the classes in level one and learned lots of tips along the way and got to play with techniques I had not used in a long time! I can't wait to start on the Level 2 classes.<br />

Below is a supply list with links to the Altenew products that I have used in my projects.<br />

If you're still here, thanks so much for sticking with me and for taking the time to look at my projects. I really appreciate it!<br />

<br />
Today I want to share my latest card for my Level 1 AECP Certification from the Celebration: Stencil Techniques class with Laurel Beard. I cannot believe that this is my 10th Altenew Academy Class! I have had so much fun and learnt so many great tips & techniques from every single one. <br />
<br />
I have based my card on Lesson 2 - 'Stencils & Embossing Paste' and have used glitter gel on my project. I chose the Leaf Burst Stencil and it is one of my favourites! I started by cutting a piece of white cardstock to 4"x5.25" and attached my stencil to the front, covering only two thirds of the card front. I then used distress inks to colour the stencil before applying a layer of clear glitter gel over the top.<br />
<br />
While that was drying, I coloured a piece of white card with coordinating blue ink and then die cut the sentiment from the Handwritten Hello die set. I then cut the die again from some white foam and attached them together for dimension before adding them to my card. I stamped the 'dear friend' from the Altenew Birthday Greetings stamp set in the same blue ink and attached it with some foam tape.<br />
<br />
I then used more foam tape to attach the whole panel to a 4.25"x5.5" top folding card base.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uYKoZ8qCjAw/Xp66WnHFxuI/AAAAAAAAH_M/0sKijJL6NI4PGhGSaniSJR6XF2UPzmsRwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/hellostencil4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uYKoZ8qCjAw/Xp66WnHFxuI/AAAAAAAAH_M/0sKijJL6NI4PGhGSaniSJR6XF2UPzmsRwCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/hellostencil4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>BONUS CARD</b></div>
<br />
While scraping the glitter gel from the first card, I had a lot left over and since it was coloured from the inks, I could not return it to the tub (and it was too pretty to waste!). So I spread the leftover gel through the same stencil on a second piece of white card. I loved the soft colours of this and went with the same design as my first card, and added some gold foiled accents to finish it off.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
I had so much fun creating todays card as part of my AECP Certification after completing the Seasonal Scene Building class at the Altenew Academy. This class was taught by Nichol Magouirk, and she shared some great ideas and techniques. I have used two of the lessons in particular to create my card today; Lesson 1 - Masking A Scene and Lesson 4 - Framed Scene.<br />
<br />
On a 4"x5.25" of white cardstock, I started stamping the macarons from the Altenew Handmade Tags stamp set in Altenew Permanent Black Ink since I was going to be using the Altenew Artist Markers to colour them. And I wanted to create a little grouping of them, so used masking to achieve the look I wanted. First I stamped the images I was going to use onto masking paper, and cut them out. I then masked and stamped as needed to create my my scene.<br />
<br />
I coloured the image using the markers and then adhered the panel to a coordinating 4.25"x5.5" top folding pink card base. I then cut a second white card panel the same size and cut a window from the centre using a blade, before attaching one of the frames from the Fine Frames Cover die around the opening. This was cut using gold foil cardstock.<br />
<br />
At this point I decided to make it into a shaker card, so I attached a piece of clear acetate to the back of the window panel and then attached it to the base using double sided foam tape after filling the shaker with a mix of sequins and beads.<br />
<br />
I then stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set in Versamark Ink on pink cardstock and heat set it using white embossing powder and attached it to the front, completing the card.<br />
<br />
I hope you enjoyed this project today, it was fun to make and I really enjoyed using the Artist Markers to colour with. They blend so nicely!<br />

<br />
Today I am sharing my card for the Altenew 'Let It Shine' class as part of my AECP certification. I am so close to completing Level 1 now .. only two classes to go and then my final assignment!<br />
<br />
I loved this class (run by Carissa Wiley) and picked up some great tips for adding sparkle and shine to my projects. For my card today, I chose to use metallic foil card as featured in lesson 5 of the class.<br />
<br />
Although this card looks quite simple, it took me hours to complete! Putting all of those tiny die-cut pieces into their place was very time consuming.<br />
<br />
I started with a standard A2 card base of Neenah Solar White 110lb which I covered with double sided adhesive, leaving the top tacky and then I die cut the Dainty Blooms Cover die in White card and attached it to the front of the base. I then cut the cover die three more times, in red, black and grey, and proceeded to paper piece all of the parts back into the cover die. They attached easily since I had used the double sided adhesive first. These flowers reminded me a lot of poppies so I decided to make them red.<br />
<br />
Once all of the pieces were in, I cut the cover die two more times in white and layered them on top of the completed panel. I then cut the die again from metallic gold cardstock and placed it on the very top.<br />
<br />
Since the card is quite busy (and shiny!) I went with a very simple white embossed sentiment from the Heartfelt Sentiments stamp set, on a black strip and felt it didn't need any further embellishment.<br />
<br />

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zKW7SD0HIFo/XoFVOaZda_I/AAAAAAAAH-I/BaBjMRPLhKEUvifSc4j3apQDNmaoAY78wCLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/irristinkingtech.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zKW7SD0HIFo/XoFVOaZda_I/AAAAAAAAH-I/BaBjMRPLhKEUvifSc4j3apQDNmaoAY78wCLcBGAsYHQ/s400/irristinkingtech.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The one positive thing to come out of all of the craziness going on in the world right now, is that I am able to spend a little more time in the craft room! Unlike many people (my hubby included) who have lost work, I am still able to go to work although I am doing less hours at the moment. So I am hoping this will allow me to play a little catch up on my <a href="https://altenew.com/pages/altenew-educator-certification-program" target="_blank">Altenew Educator Program</a> classes. I am so close to completing Level 1, only a few classes to go!<br />
<br />
Today I was inspired by the <b>Irresistible Inking Technique</b> class with Sarah Naumann, in particular lesson two which was all about using your ink pads for watercoloring.<br />
<br />
I chose the gorgeous Bloom & Grow stamp set, which was a collaboration between Altenew and Hero Arts as I felt it was a real statement image and would be perfect for this technique. I stamped the large flower from the set onto a 4"x5.25" piece of watercolour card in Versamark ink and then embossed it with white embossing powder. I then chose the gorgeous new ink colour 'Nimbus' to watercolour with. I love that this grey/blue colour also has a little bit of a pink tone when used with water.<br />
<br />
Once I had coloured the whole image I set the panel aside to dry and created my sentiment. I used the Hello & Hugs Stamp and coordinating die set for the sentiment. So that the sentiment would match the image, I die cut the shadow of the word hugs from the same watercolour card and then used the direct to paper technique with the Nimbus ink pad, before layering it on another two white die cut pieces for dimension. I then layered the hugs word on top in white card. For the rest of the sentiment, I again applied ink directly to a strip of card, and then white embossed the remaining of the sentiment before attaching both to the card.<br />
<br />
I applied the panel with foam tape to a white 4.25"x5.5" card base, which I also inked with the Nimbus ink to bring the whole card together and finished it off with some clear sequins.<br />
<br />
I was really happy with how this card turned out and think it would be great for many occasions!<br />

<br /></div>
Once again life has got in the way, and I have not had as much time to craft over the last few months as I had hoped! With Christmas, holidays and one of my girls flying the nest, it's been pretty crazy around here! But I am finally back into completing my <a href="https://altenewacademy.com/" target="_blank">Altenew Academy</a> classes for the AECP. Now that there is one less person around here, I should find it easier to make time for crafting .. right? Please tell me I'm right! lol<br />
<br />
Since I work in a craft store and we stock Altenew Products, I am lucky enough to be hosting two Altenew workshops this coming week using the Playful Plumeria stamps & dies. And as I had these stamps out and was prepping for my class, I figured it was a great opportunity to use this gorgeous set to create some other cards at the same time. And I thought that these layering stamps would be perfect for the All About Layering 2 class! I found this class really built on what was taught in the first layering class, and the tips and tricks shared by all of the teachers really helped me when creating my card. I recommend using a stamp positioner (such as a Misti or similar) when using the layering stamps as it makes the process so much easier!<br />
<br />
I really wanted to use these beautiful flowers to create a feature panel so I began by cutting a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock to 3 7/8"x 5 1/8" and stamped the first layer of the flower randomly over the panel in Rose Quartz Ink. I then also stamped the second layer of the flower in Rose Quartz ink, this time stamping it twice so it would be darker. I then stamped the next layer in Citrus Burst ink and the final layer in Sunkissed ink.<br />
<br />
Once the main panel was completed, I stamped the 'hello' stamp from the Halftone Hello stamp set in Jet Black ink and cut it out with the coordinating die. I cut the die an extra 3 times in white card so I could layer the sentiment for more dimension. I then stamped the 'birthday girl' from the same set onto black cardstock using Versamark ink and embossed it with Altenew Crisp White embossing powder which I then cut into a strip and attached double sided foam adhesive to attach to the front of the card.<br />
<br />
I attached the main panel to some black cardstock using double sided foam tape and then adhered them both to the front of a top folding 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white card base. To complete the card I added some clear sparkling sequins and some clear shimmer pen on the flowers.<br />
