Altenew - With A Twist

I am back today with another project for my AECP Level 2, and this time the class I have done is 'With A Twist' hosted by Therese Calvird. I really enjoyed this class and it was hard to choose which lesson I was going to base my card on, but ultimately decided on the 'shaker card with a twist' which Therese featured in Lesson 3. After all, I love a good shaker card and they always have that 'wow' factor when you give them to someone! And this is the kind of shaker that allows you to see right through to the inside of the card and I thought that was an awesome idea.

I also decided to go with a masculine theme this time and the TO THE MOON stamp and die set was perfect for this project! I have had this set in my stash for a little while so was happy to finally get some ink on it.

So let me tell you how I created this fun card! You will need an A2 top folding white notecard, as well as a second panel for bending cut to 3.75"x5".

1. Ink blend the top panel in various shades of blues (if you wanted a more galaxy look, then adding some pinks and purples would look amazing!). I made a mark of where I was going to cut out my circle, so that I could do lighter ink coming out from that area to create a 'halo' effect. And I was sure to add some deeper black inking to the edges for contrast.

2. Die cut the smaller circle fro the 'To The Moon' die cut set towards the top of your panel to allow room for the sentiment at the bottom.

3. Line up the top panel on the A2 card base and die cut a circle in the front of the card in the same place so that the two holes will line up.

4. Use the white circle that was cut from the base to stamp your moon onto. I only stamped one of the moon patterned stamps from the set with Clear Embossing Ink and used a platinum coloured embossing powder which I set with my heat gun. Place this inside your card base, using the circle on the front as a guide so it lines up properly.

4. Place acetate over the top of the circle on the A2 card base and under the circle on the inked panel base.

5. Add Altenew instant dimension foam tape to the back of the inked panel and be sure to use a powder tool around the edge where the circle is. This will stop your shaker pieces sticking to the insides of the circle.

6. Lay your card base flat, and place your shaker components into the centre of the hole on the acetate, remove the backing from the foam tape and carefully place the top panel on top and press down to secure.

7. Stamp the sentiment onto black cardstock and heat set with white embossing powder, and cut he word word 'moon' four times from white card stock and layer together using the Altenew Precision Glue Pen and attach the sentiment to the front of your card.

8. I also used the Altenew precision glue pen to add a few of the little stars around the sentiment to complete the card.

I hope that you enjoyed this project. I certainly enjoyed creating it! And wherever you are in the world, I hope you have a fabulous day. We are in a short lockdown here in Western Australia so I am making the most of some crafting time and catching up on projects while I am stuck at home.
