Hello from Sydney

I finally arrived last night after a long bus ride, an overnight stay in Perth and then a plane to Sydney. A big THANKYOU to my friend Christine (an online buddy and fellow scrapbooker!) who picked me up from the train station and invited me to spend the night with her gorgeous family and then took me to my plane on Monday.
It is so nice to be here, although it is the hardest trip I know I will ever have to make.
Dad was glad to see me, and I am so happy to be with him and mum now. Although I was just not prepared for how much he has deteriorated since I last saw him in September. Mum did warn me but I guess what I could imagine in my mind is nothing compared to the reality - which is far worse.
What a disgusting, insideous disease Cancer is. Any of you who have seen someone eaten away by it will know exactly what I mean. I feel angry, and so helpless right now. I know that all I can do is just be here, and it is frustrating.
I will update again when I get a chance.
(((( Hugs )))))

Somtimes life just sucks!

That pretty much sums up the day I've had.

Some of you that read my blog know that my beloved Dad has been battling cancer for a quite a while now. Well it looks like he is finally losing his fight - and believe me he has put up a damn good one! He is the strongest, most amazing man I know and his passion for life has kept him going much longer than even the doctors predicted. My mum has been a rock too (although she's always been our rock!) and I can't even imagine what she has been having to deal with. She takes care of my dad and works full time as well. They celebrated their 38th Wedding Anniversary in October and are such an inspiration to me.

So now the time has come for me to travel to Sydney to be with them both. I don't know when I will be back or when I will update again, but if you could keep my dad and our family in your thoughts and prayers it would be much appreciated.

Treasure every day with your loved ones, because you just never know what day may be your last. I am lucky that I have always had a wonderful, special relationship with my Dad, so I have no regrets, only that I haven't been able to spend as much time with him this past year as I would have liked. So please remember, to hug your loved ones tight and let them know how much they mean to you.

Happy Australia Day!

Since today is a public holiday we are celebrating Australia Day in great Aussie fashion - we are doing nothing! It's already lunch time and the kids are still in their pj's and I have just had breakfast. Although I have already been for my walk, showered and had a quick visit to the solarium this morning. My plan for the rest of the day is to spend the afternoon in my scrapbooking room and hopefully get some creative stuff done.
Yesterday was another scorcher (about 40 degC) so we spent the afternoon swimming at a friends house (where this picture was taken). We had such a nice time and I got a good 'baby fix' as I spent most of the afternoon cuddling my friends three month old son. Don't you just love snuggly babies!
And with that thought - of cute snuggly babies - I will sign off and retreat to my room. And to all my fellow Aussies - Happy Australia Day!

Digital Scrapbooking

Now I just cannot seem to get my head around digital scrapbooking. It's not that I don't like it, because I do. But I guess it's just not for me (and a large part of that is because I am so technically challenged I just can't work it out!). I guess another reason is because I love all the 'stuff' that comes with paper scrapping. You know the pretty ribbons, textures, papers and all those other infinite bits and pieces you can get.
That said, if I were to try my hand at digi scrapping then Cindy Simon is the person most likely to inspire me. Cindy is one of the other talented faculty members at 123-Scrap! and her work is fantastic. She even designs her own kits!! How clever is that? Do yourself a favour and check out her stuff, especially if you are into all things digital because it really is awesome.
And even if you're not into digital scrapping, you should check it out anyway because her layout designs are always great as well!

Do you Sudoku?

This is another current obsession of mine (okay maybe obsession is too strong a word) but Sudoku has replaced my usual games of Spider Solitaire and Acrophobia.
There are lots of online places where you can play Sudoku, but this is the one I go to. I like this one because you can time yourself too and my current best score (on the lower level of course) is 6.54 minutes.
If you don't Sudoku, maybe it's time you gave it a try!

Creative Space

Everyone has to have their own creative space, and this is mine. We only just moved into this house before Christmas, so there are still some things to do (like paint the skirtings, put up timber venetians, some Ikea shelving above the desk and change the carpet) then it will be perfect!
It was already painted this great colour which at first I thought was a bit dark but now I love it so it will stay :) Sometimes the girls like to work in here with me or just by themselves doing their own thing. It is so nice to have a place I can go to - and shut the door if I really need to as well!

The journey to a new me.

Well look at me, a new blog and you can't shut me up!
While I was here, I just also thought I'd share the current journey I am on - to a new me! I am into week 4 of the Weight Watchers Points Program and my goal is to lose about 20kgs. So far I have lost 6 and my first mini goal is 10kgs by Easter!

Gotta love time off!

Don't you love it when you have time off from work? It is a little over a week until the girls go back to start the new school year and I have from now until then off. Granted a lot of the time will be spent organising their school supplies and uniforms etc but I am sure I will get some time to do my stuff too.

I have a lot of scrap projects to get done for
123-Scrap! including some cards and projects for our upcoming cyber-crop (but they are a surprise so I can't share yet!) I would also love to get some personal scrapping done, as my mojo has taken a bit of a beating lately and I really haven't done much at all. I took this picture yesterday (among others) which I can't wait to scrap! And then there are all of the photos from the last how many years that need to be done. The usual story - so many photos, so little time!
Before I go I thought I'd share my favourite recent (and oh so true!) quote:
"If you really want it, you'll find a way;
if you don't, you'll find an excuse"

Oh and 'Hi' to my mum and dad if you're reading this ;) Love you lots and miss you!!
