Feeling Great - WW's update

Well I have been so busy and active this week that I have hardly had any computer time! But I'm feeling on top of the world and really positive about my WL journey.

A few of the things that have made me feel in control this week include:

* I have walked 3 times (outside in the fresh air, not on the treadmill) for 1 hour at a time. And that is so far! There are still a couple of days till weigh in so I hope to get another 2 hours of walking in.
* I took my measurements and found I have lost 6cms off my waist, 5cms off my hips and almost 3cms off my bust! (My measurements were last done in about May)
* I realised that I have not had a migraine headache in over 5 weeks! I had previously been having them on a weekly basis and they were really wearing me out. I put it down to the water and exercise! (so Mum, if you're reading this - start drinking more water!)
* I got some new walking shorts and decent walking shoes. The shorts I had to get a size smaller so that made my day :) And the new shoes make me feel like I'm walking on air.
* I went to a Hen's night of sorts for a friend last night and had a couple of champagnes, but was so proud that the most I nibbled on was a small handful of potato chips all night! And trust me, there was some great food there. So I was pretty proud of myself for that.

We have a wedding to go to tomorrow, and since I have done so much walking and been pretty good with my points this week I am going to give myself the afternoon off tracking and just have a great time. I can't wait - I just LOVE weddings!

So fingers crossed for a positive weigh-in this week.

Check It Out!!

I did it!! I lost 1.05kgs tonight to reach my first 5KGS!! Woohoo! So I got my 5kg bookmark and a star on my progress chart :) My next goal is my 10% and I only have 3kgs to go. Oh and it means I get my iPod Nano now (which I optimistically picked up on Saturday just in case I made it - and it kept me honest all weekend. lol).

I have also gone down a whole clothing size now too and bought myself a new pair of jeans one size smaller than usual. That was a great feeling and I am really looking forward to when I can get the next size down again.

With the beautiful Spring weather we have been having lately I have managed to do some hour long walks outside for a change instead of just staying on the treadmill and it has been wonderful. I am looking forward to doing a lot more of that now, although Gerard is asking me why I bothered getting the treadmill if I want to walk outside! But face it, sometimes it is just not possible to get out during the week before it's dark so I will probably do 50/50 over the summer months.

Weigh In Day

Well despite my bad day or two, I managed to pick myself up and save a few points and do some extra exercise and lost 500g this week!
Only 950g to lose to reach my first mini goal of 5kgs, so I am hoping to make it next week. Since there are no social engagements this week or eating out I am hoping to stay on points ALL WEEK, which would be a nice change. lol
Things have been so hectic around here it will be nice to have a quiet week, and spend next weekend scrapping since Gerard will be out doing gigs on Friday and Saturday night.
I also got my silver star pin at the WW's meeting tonight for attending every meeting since joining 7 weeks ago. That was a nice surprise! So hopefully I will be getting my 5kg bookmark next Monday.

Great day for me - not so great for the diet!

While I had a wonderful time at the luncheon (see post below) it meant a blowout for my points. I didn't have any choice for the main meal but did okay considering. However I think the few glasses of champagne and the biggest chocolate/cointreau cream desert I have ever seen pretty much did me in ;)
Then just to top it off, after such a big day out and no time to shop we ended up having McDonalds for dinner. I only had half of what I would have used to eat, but still I could have done without it.

I am hoping that since the start of my week was good and I have a few days till weigh-in to make up some extra points, that I won't have done too much damage, but I guess only time will tell. I am not looking forward to getting on those scales on Monday, that's for sure!

Yippee it's Friday - what a week!

This week has been pretty busy since I last checked in. We are just hitting the busy season at work so I haven't had time to get online at all during work hours (what an inconvenience that is! lol). And the evenings have been just as busy at home. Tonight is the first night I have had time to sit for any length of time and check emails etc.

Today was the Ladies Luncheon as part of the annual race round here. It was great! I didn't get to any of the races this year but at least I got to attend the lunch which was really nice. I had a great time and knew a lot of the people there which made it even better (over 120 ladies attended). I took some pics on my work camera and can't upload until I get them on a disc, but then I will share :) I even went to the hairdresser this morning and had my hair curled for the occasion, and brought some cute new strappy shoes and handbag (which will be the feature of today's daily challenge at 123-Scrap! so will post when it's done).

Gerard and Danielle did their duet there, so I even got to spend the day with him in a roundabout kind of way. Then when school was finished I picked the girls up and we went back to watch Gerard a little longer and the girls and I got to dance. They love watching their dad play and don't often get the chance.
With the race round come lots of tourists to the town so Gerard and his band have had gigs Thurs, Fri and tomorrow night working till 2am. Plus the gig today!

Tomorrow night the girls are both having a sleepover at a friends so I am going to watch the gig - ALL NIGHT! That is new for me. Usually I have to leave at midnight to relieve the babysitter and that is just when the night is really getting into full swing.

So this week there has been little housework, NO scrapping and no computer time but still lots of fun.

The Crocodiles Are Crying

I just wanted to share this beautiful poem I received in an email today, following the tragic death last week of Steve Irwin. You didn't have to be a Croc Hunter fan to know what a difference this wonderful human being made to the enivonment and what he did for conservation in this country and around the world. His sudden death truly is a great loss for us all. My heart goes out to his wife and children.

THE CROCODILES ARE CRYING

Endless visions fill my head – this man – as large as life
And instantly my heart mourns for his angels and his wife
Because the way I see Steve Irwin – just put everything aside
It comes back to his family – it comes back to his pride

His animals inclusive – Crikey – light the place with love!
Shine his star with everything he fought to rise above
The crazy-man of Khaki from the day he left the pouch
Living out his dream and in that classic ‘Stevo’ crouch

Exploding forth with character and redefining cheek
It’s one thing to be honoured as a champion unique
It’s one thing to have microphones and spotlight cameras shoved
It’s another to be taken in and genuinely loved

But that was where he had it right – I guess he always knew
From his fathers’ modest reptile park and then Australia Zoo
We cringed at times and shook our heads – but true to natures call
There was something very Irwin in the make up of us all

Yes the more I care to think of it – the more he had it right
If you’re going to make a difference – make it big and make it bright!
Yes - he was a lunatic! Yes - he went head first!
But he made the world feel happy with his energetic burst

A world so large and loyal that it’s hard to comprehend
I doubt we truly count the warmth until life meets an end
To count it now I say a prayer with words of inspiration
May the spotlight shine forever on his dream for conservation

…My daughter broke the news to me – my six year old in tears
It was like she’d just turned old enough to show her honest fears
I tried to make some sense of it but whilst her Dad was trying
His little girl explained it best…she said “The crocodiles are crying”

Their best mate’s up in heaven now – the crocs up there are smiling!
And as sure as flowers, poems and cards and memories are piling
As sure as we’ll continue with the trademarks of his spiel
Of all the tributes worthy – he was rough…but he was real

As sure as ‘Crikey!’ fills the sky
I think we’ll miss ya Steve…goodbye

WW's Update - Week 5

Well another disappointing loss this week - only 100grams. I know a loss is a loss, and it's more than I deserve after a pretty horrible week food wise so I should be grateful.
It has made me realise though if I want to make any decent progress I really need to keep tracking and stick with the program.

So I am just putting this down for my own benefit really, to keep me on track.

WHAT I DID THE LAST TWO WEEKS:
- I ate NO fruit for almost 10 days (hiding head in shame here)
- Indulged in the wrong foods too often
- Only exercised twice a week for 30 or 40 mins
- Ate way too many sugar points
- Ate too many pasta meals for dinner (even though they were WW's ones)

WHAT I WILL DO THIS WEEK!
- Limit sugar points to 14 or less
- Eat two pieces of fruit EVERY day
- Track, track, track - everything!
- Walk at least 4 times and for at least 45mins each time
- Drink at least 2L of water every day
- Eat more fish/protein and less carbs for evening meals.

Hopefully I can stick to this plan and have a better result next week!

Total weightloss so far - 3.55kgs.

08 September 2006

Yay I scrapped!

The challenge Chris has set up at 123-Scrap! really got me motivated and I did 2 pages last night! Neither of them were 12x12 pages but I am so glad just to have done something. I got a page done for my weight loss journal and a page for Father's Day for my BOM.

Unfortunately when I went to scan them this morning my computer 'couldn't find the scanner'. Don't know why, it was right there! I could see it. lol So I will have to get my IT literate hubby to check it out for me when he gets home and then I will upload them.

That's pretty much when the bad luck started this morning. I went to walk out the front door and heard the sound of gushing water from the drainpipes. Not a good sound to hear when you know there has been no rain! I looked up onto the roof to see the Solar Hot Water system pouring out water from the side. Of course this has to happen on a Friday when it is near impossible to get tradesmen over the weekend! I am just waiting for the phone call to tell me how many thousands it will cost to replace and how long it's going to take. Arrggghhhh.

Hopefully the day can only get better from here. And I am looking forward to some more scrapping tonight and over the weekend.

Are you in a scrappy rut like me?

Do you need a little scrappy challenge to get you going again? Then pop over to 123-Scrap! and check out the Extra Credit Forum. Chris is running a fantastic challenge this month with daily challenges, plus weekly and monthly themes to get your creative juices flowing.

I haven't done anything in SO long I am glad to be able to start playing along myself tonight. After dinner I am going to hibernate in my scrap room for a while and work on a couple of challenges. I can't wait!

So what are you waiting for? Get over there and check it out!

So far, so good

Just checking in from work. Apart from probably a few too many sugar points so far this week I have done pretty well. Managed 40mins on the treadmill yesterday, have stayed within my points and drank at least 2L of water each day.

Hopefully I can keep it up (well apart from the sugar overload) and I will see a more positive result on the scales next week. At least there are no big events coming up this weekend food wise which could cause a potential blow out.

Someone who I hadn't seen for a while came into the office today and commented on how good I looked - that is always nice to hear :) It is great to be able to wear my work suit again, after months of the pants being too tight to zip up. I hope that before long I will need to order new workpants because I won't be able to keep these ones up.

It has been freezing cold here the past few days and I am really wanting to reach for those comfort foods. Have managed to resist though and even the calamari and chips at Dome cafe didn't tempt me at lunch time yesterday. Instead I had a lemon chicken and salad wrap - yummo!

Today it is just lunch in the office (crackers, cream cheese, tomato and avocado). I may even throw in a cup of soup just to warm me up. I'm sure before long I will be complaining of the heat so I should enjoy the wintery foods while I can.

Twelve Wonderful Years!

That is how long dh and I have been married. We celebrated our anniversary on Saturday with a beautiful dinner out at a restaurant called Danny's. It was so yummy. Then his band had a gig so I went along for a little while before coming home to relieve the poor sick babysitter! I couldn't believe she came to sit for us even though she wasn't feeling well, because she didn't want us to miss out on our anniversary dinner. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful friend. Even more blessed to have such a wonderful husband!

Here's to many more years of married bliss :)

WW's Update Weeks 4 & 5

It's been a tough 2 weeks so I haven't updated, sorry! Bad food weeks, bad exercise weeks and emotionally tough to boot.
My feet are killing me after using the treadmill because my shoes have had it, so I need to get some new ones this week. This has made it hard to do a lot of walking.
It was that TOM and I ate far too much chocolate for my own good! Despite all this I did manage two small losses of 0.45 on 28th and 0.25 last night. Definitely not deserving, and I was expecting a gain yesterday so it is a bonus!
This brings my total lost to 3.45kgs so far. I really want to make the 4kg mark next week so need to be very good to make sure that I don't let my bad couple of weeks catch up with me.
I have a Christmas Challenge to lose 15kgs so I still have 11.5 to get there. I know if I knuckle down and do it that it is very achievable. I just need to refocus and get myself back on track.

Father's Day

I wasn't looking forward to Father's Day this year, but it was even harder than I imagined it would be. I am missing Dad more and more every day. I haven't seen him now for almost 7 months and it hurts. I miss his smile, and the way we would tease each other, and the way he always closed his eyes when he was talking to you. We always made faces at him while he did it, and he just used to roll his eyes and tell us he was 'serious'. Yeah right Dad!

Happy Father's Day Dad. I miss you, and I love you more than you could ever know.
