New Years Resolutions

I don't know about you, but I am never very good at sticking to resolutions. Although I seem to make them every year! 2006 would have to be the first year I have had any success. I vowed to lose weight this year, and I have ... although I am still about 9kgs from goal. So my first goal for the New Year is to reach that before my birthday in April.

I also have a few other smaller goals I would like to reach:

- Find more time for exercise
- Scrapbook a lot more than I did this year!
- Take more photos
- Do some painting/work around the house
- Save more

That's about it I think. If I can achieve one or two of these I will be doing well.

2006 has been a crappy year for me personally and I am looking forward to 2007 and all the possibilities it holds.
After losing my grandmother in 2004, my grandfather in 2005 and then my Dad in 2006 I am hoping that 2007 will not see any more loss for our family. My sister is going to be giving us another nephew in April, so THAT is something we are looking forward to. It is due on my birthday, so that would be a great present :)

So with that, I wish you all (the three readers of my blog) a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that 2007 is a wonderful year for you.

Christmas is over for another year

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that you were spoiled, as you should be! We had a very quiet family Chrissy (just me, dh and the kids) at home for lunch and then went for drinks and a bbq with friends on Christmas night. The weather was beautiful, so much nicer than the scorching hot days we have had the past couple of years. It was more like spring! I wish every Christmas could be like that. It is heating up now though and thank goodness we got our new aircon installed just before the holidays.

Santa was very good to everyone in our house. The girls got a Playstation 2 which they are loving! as well as computer games, toys, board games, clothes, makeup, and lots of girly things. Maddie got a lot of art stuff which she was thrilled with and Claudia got the one thing she asked Santa for - a fish! lol She named him Kutchipatchi - which is a Tamagotchi name. It is a cute fish, if you can say that about fish.

I got a sushi express and made my first Sushi today - it was delicious! Forgot to take a photo before we devoured them, so I will have to do that next time. I also got myself a rice cooker with a gift voucher that Mum gave me, so I can cook the perfect sushi rice now.

All in all, a very successful Christmas (if not just a tad disorganised and last minute) and we are looking forward to the new year. I for one can't wait to see the end of 2006, it has been a crappy year to say the least, and 2007 just HAS to be better!!

Pies ... glorious (home made) pies!

Guess who got a new pie maker this week! So today I made some divine steak pies for lunch for the girls and I. Gerard also managed to come home in time to grab a couple. With over 100 recipes in the pie book, I can see the pie-maker is going to be a huge hit around here. And the great thing about home made pies, is that I know exactly what is going into them!

Happy Birthday My Love

Today is my darling's birthday (although he insists that since he wasn't born until late at night, he does NOT turn 38 until then).
Isn't it funny how when we are younger and want to be older, we take our birthday from one minute after midnight! lol

I had the day off work today and we have made him a chocolate fudge cake which the girls will decorate later, and are cooking some of his favourite meals (home made bruschetta and prawns with lemon pepper mayonnaise) and of course a nice wine for him and I to share. Happy birthday my love, I hope that you have a wonderful day.

Claudia's Haircut

Claudia has been wanting to get her hair cut short since the middle of the year, but we convinced her to keep it long at least until the dancing concert so that we could put it up.

As soon as the concert was over though she wanted it cut so last week she went in and told the hairdresser exactly how short to make it.

It looks so cute, but I did love her long hair too.

Work stuff

I found out today that the trainee at work (who has just signed up for a second 12month traineeship) is going to be leaving to start a new job on 3rd January. This normally wouldn't be a problem but since she is on annual leave next week, and then our office closes for the week between Xmas and New Year, she basically only has a couple of days left this week and that's it.
So NO TIME for a handover or to look for a new staff member before she goes so that she could do some of their handover as well.
It also means the leave I had planned for January has to be adjusted as I need to come in to do timesheets etc.
Oh and just to top it off, we are moving offices next week so will be totally unpacking in a new location with only 2 staff members and we are unlikely to get a replacement until late January.

Arrrgghhhh! Just what I didn't need to be worried about over the Christmas break. But I guess there is nothing I can do about it, so I had better take a deep breath and get on with it huh.

Words of Wisdom...

The day you take complete responsibility for yourself, the day you stop making any excuses, that’s the day you start moving down the road to success.

No one else can do it for you.

Only you can make it happen.

You’re the only one that has to live your life.

Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility.

It’s up to you to choose the thoughts and actions that will lead you to success.

Your life will be what you make of it.

Nothing will ever happen by itself.

Success will come your way once you realize that you have to make it come your way by your own actions.

The power to succeed is yours alone.

Progress Pictures

Well now that blogger is cooperating, I thought I would upload some progress pics (see below). The first ones are from when I was pretty close to my heaviest weight of between 85-86 kilos. I can't believe how puffy my face looked!
The second lot of pics were taken on Saturday by Madison before we went out to the dancing concert (which explains the angle looking upward) lol.
Only 9kgs now until goal - and I can't wait! 2007 is going to be my year to be slim ... BRING IT ON!!!!!
2nd December 2006 - 71kgs

Proud Mummy Alert!

Lots of proud mummy moments this week! First of all the girls had their dancing concerts on Saturday night and they were both FANTASTIC! And they looked cute too :) This photo was taken just before we left for the concert.

Then tonight was the annual end of year presentation night at the school, followed by Carols by Candelight. The junior years each get presented with a certificate (which is where Claudia is) but the Senior years get given book awards and there are three awards for each Year level. The awards are for Christian leadership, most improved or most consistent and outstanding achiever award.

WellI am so excited to say that Madison won the award for Outstanding Achievement!! WOOHOOO Maddie! We were so proud of her and we could tell she was pretty pleased with herself too! She is such a dedicated student and just LOVES to learn, so it is great that all her hard work is being recognised.

WW Update

Weigh in day and another 850g gone ... hopefully never to be seen again! Only 1.1kgs until I am a 60's girl again. Boy have I been waiting a long time for that to happen!

I have some progress pics to upload, but have to wait until Blogger sees fit to cooperate. For some reason it won't let me add any photos at the moment.

I am just plodding along with the points, wasn't totally perfect last week. Had a little takeaway and some chocolate and didn't have a lot of time for much exercise, but overall still a lot better than the 'old me' would have been. I am also learning not to beat myself up for little slips here and there, and I try to remember that this is a lifestyle change and any lifestyle is not going to be perfect.

Things should hopefully start to slow down on the social scene in a week or two so I can get back on track with my regular exercise and hopefully lose a few more kilos before Christmas.
