Cards, Cards and more Cards

On Saturday I was lucky enough to attend the Stampin' Up! regional meeting here in Perth as a guest of my friend (and SU Demonstrator) Leonie. I thought it would be good to go, as I have been considering signing up for a while now and it would give me a good chance to have a look at the workings of the company as well as meet some other demonstrators. Now all I have left to decide, is when is the best time to sign up? So stay tuned for that announcement!

Anyway, apart from all the great demo's we were given the cutest new stamp set and got to make 4 projects as well. So of course I thought I would share them with you :) They are a lot simpler than my usual cards, but I just love the clear crisp designs of these SU projects.

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #14

I love this weeks colour challenge from Makeesha! I thought I would do something different and make a Christmas card with these non traditional colours and I really like how it turned out! I got the idea for the feature panel from a blog I was looking at this week (and do you think now that I am trying to link it, that I can find it!) I think I will use this colour scheme for more Xmas cards because they are just so pretty!

Supplies: Cardstock by SU! Stamp set is Snow Burst, and I added the greeting with my computer. The grey cardstock is embossed with the snowflake folder on the cuttlebug. I also added some glitter to the snowflakes (which you can't really seeand just added some stitching and used my Nestabilities to cut out the feature panel.

Xmas Inspiration Station

I mentioned in yesterdays post that I wanted to set up an inspiration station so that I could have all of my Xmas themed stuff in one place since I need to get started on my xmas cards. I had seen this done on a couple of other different sites and thought it was such a neat idea.
So last night I got together all of my Xmas themed stamps, embellishments and paper and put them in this little Ikea drawer organiser I had in my bathroom. Then I went through all of my papers and got together all of my Xmas paper and put that together. Now that I have everything organised I can start working on my xmas cards and I know that I have everything I need right at hand! And I also ordered some of the new Stampin' Up! christmas ornament stamps with matching punch which will be a lot of fun to use for this years cards too!

This card is for yet another sketch challenge. This one is from the Taylored Expressions blog. I just love her sketches!

Supplies: Paper by We R Memory Keepers and Bo Bunny, cardstock by Stampin' Up! Stamp and Charm by Stampin' Bella (the charm is a little ice cream scoop, which is hard to see in the pic). I also added some gemstones to the centre of the flowers and some stitching around the edge.

Some sense of normality

Well almost :) On Sunday my mother-in-law flew home and then the girls went back to school this week, although one started on Monday and the other on Tuesday. It will be great to get back to my regular routine as I find my house gets in quite a state of disarray when everyone is around all the time! Although hubby has decided to have an extra week off and is still at home, but since he prefers to play his guitar most of the time he doesn't bother me too much except at feeding times. LOL But to be honest, he has been away so much this year that it is really nice having him around. We are even going to go to the movies once we can decide what we want to see.

So now it is back to school drop offs, housework and gym visits (hopefully 3-4 a week). And I may even get some more stamping done. I really want to get back into my scrapbooking too so I might go and get a heap of new photos printed for some motivation.

I also want to make a start on my Christmas cards and saw a great idea on another blog a while ago, where you get all of your themed stamps, embellishments etc together (in my case Xmas) and put them all in a basket on your desk so that you have everything on hand. Sounds like a great idea - I will let you know if it works out!

And judging by this photo even Kitty is glad to have the normal routine back. She seems to stay out of the way on the holidays, but usually she can be found pretty close to where I am. And at this very moment she is waiting for me on my (messy) craft table saying 'come on woman, are we going to get to work or what?' Yes, I understand kitty talk, didn't you know?

Hope your week is a great one!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #39

Three sketch challenges in a row - I am really on a roll now!
Here is this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge which you can find right here. I love Karen's great sketch for this week, it is such a nice simple design, but has so much versatility and you can add as much or as little details as you like! I have also added pics of the inside of my card (which I often forget to do!)

Supplies: paper is Basic Grey, cardstock is all Stampin' Up! as is the ribbon. The stamp on the front is Penny Black and the inside stamp is from a Stampin' Up! set called Holiday Spirit. I just added some stitching and buttons, used a scalloped border punch and coloured the image with my Prismacolour pencils.

An afternoon in Kings Park

Since the weather was so beautiful this morning we thought we would head out to Kings Park for the afternoon, since it was my mother-in-laws last day with us before flying home tomorrow. And of course, as soon as we got in the car to go it came over all cloudy and started to rain! But we went ahead anyway and still managed to have a nice time despite the change in the weather. Here are just a few of the one hundred photos we took!

The view of the city from one of the lookouts.

The girls in front of the Pioneer Womens Fountain.

Me and the girls on one of the walkways.

The girls with their grandmother in front of some of the wildflowers.
Me and Claudia inside the War Memorial.
My beautiful family :)
The eternal flame with the War Memorial in the background. What a pity about the dark skies!

These babies were just so adorable!
All of the next pics are just some random Native and Wildflower pics. They were so pretty!

Perth Royal Show

This was our first time at the Perth Royal Show and the kids (and us!) loved it! We were also lucky enough to have my mother in law staying with us so she came along too. Here are a few pics from our day. I have to say though ... that the ride I went on seemed to do something to my back and it has been really hurting for the last few days!
