Weekend Sketch Challenge #69

It's been ages since I did one of Beate's weekend sketch challenges. I love this sketch but can't say I am thrilled with the card I made. I think I may just have to have another go at this one.
Things have been pretty busy around here so this is the only card I have done so this week! Hopefully I will find time to get some more done over the long weekend, in between painting Maddie's bedroom.
Supplies: Cardstock in Sahara Sand, Riding Hood Red and Whisper White. Paper by Basic Grey. Stamp by Whipper Snapper Designs and rubon by Stampin' Up!

Card share and a quick hello

I have been pretty busy and so I haven't done a lot of crafty stuff lately but I did manage a couple of new cards. One for my nieces birthday and one for hubby for valentines day. I got the idea for the Valentines card from one I had seen at Splitcoast Stampers.

Supplies: Patterned paper by Kaiser, card by stampin'Up! in tempting turquoise and whisper white. Pink card by bazzill. Stamps by Whipper Snapper Designs (how cute is that egg!). I used the nestabilities for matting and just added some stitching.

Supplies: Card in real red and white by SU! stamps from 'a happy heart' set by Stampin' Up. Used the scalloped border punch and some generic red ribbon. I almost feel guilty for how little time I spent on this card! (almost ...) lol

I hate spammers!

I have been getting advertising comments on my blog posts now! Arrgggghhh! So my apologies to the 5 of you that read my blog, but I have had to start moderating comments to try and stop them. I have had about 12 just today and have to go and delete them all.

Sorry to be a pain.

Amazing Grace (and Happy Valentines Day)

I hope that you all have had (or will have for my U.S friends) a wonderful Valentines Day with the people you love.
Valentines Day is always bittersweet for me. 3 years have passed today since the death of my beloved Dad, the first man I ever loved. And though I try to celebrate his life rather than mourn the loss, it is not always that easy.
I was happy to have Gerard home this year since he was away last Valentines. He put off his travel to Perth until tomorrow so we got to spend the day together. It has been lovely :)
You may notice (if you have your volume turned on) that I have added some music to my blog. And in memory of my dad today I have made this beautiful version of Amazing Grace (by Leanne Rimes) my current song as that was the song we played at my dads funeral. Although we played the Elvis version (since that was his favourite). But I just love this version the best, with no accompaniment, just that pure voice. What I wouldn't give to be able to sing like that!
I am also enjoying some Taylor Swift lately ... and I am so not a country fan by any means but I do really enjoy her stuff. The girls and I have been rocking away to it all week.

So whatever you are doing today, I hope that it is special. Happy Valentines Day!

Loss

What a sad week this has been for Australia. So many people have lost loved ones, their homes, pets and their livelihoods in the horrific fires in Victoria. They are saying that the number of deaths could reach 300. There are just no words. And to know that some of these fires were deliberately lit makes it even more unbelievable. Small country towns have been totally wiped out, so hard to imagine. Even seeing the pictures it doesn't seem real. It really makes you re-evaluate what is important and appreciate what you have.

My Poor Baby

Maddie got her braces on yesterday, and she was so brave! There were no tears although she has been having a bit of pain on and off since.
Typical Maddie though, she just gets on with it and doesn't complain at all. Hopefully it should settle down in a few days though and before you know it, 15 months will be over and she will have a beautiful new smile.

Boxed Card Set

Last night I put together a boxed set of 6 cards for a friends birthday this month. A few of these designs I have used before and just changed the colours and papers. Also some of these cards have been cased from Beate (I just LOVE her work!)
I decided to keep them all similar by using the same coloured card and papers - So Saffron, basic black and white with So Saffron designer papers. I also kept the embellishments the same on all cards, only using some black ribbon and kaiser rhinestones for a bit of 'bling'. I hope she likes them! And since she doesn't read my blog I am pretty safe posting them here :)
Excuse the pics as it was quite shady outside when I took the photos.

When technology goes bad...

It really infuriates me! In this case it was more a case of technology breaking down :( Last Saturday I was happily surfing my favourite stamp blogs when my DSL light died on my modem. When I rang my ISP provider to find out what was going on it turns out my modem had died. Exactly 18 days after the 12 month warranty ran out ... yes I only had it 1 year!! Aren't they meant to last longer than that?

Oh well, finally today I managed to go pick up a new wireless modem/router combo and am all hooked back up and happily catching up on all my favourite blogs. If I am quick I may still be able to catch up on a couple of this weeks challenges.

So this week while I was net-less we had a busy time with both girls going back to school. Maddie to Year 8 and Claudia to Year 5. Gerard arrived home from overseas on Thursday and now we are all home together again :) Here is a pic of the girls on their first day back at school.

Oh and last Saturday I got a new haircolour ... which I hate! and thank goodness it's only a semi so it will fade out before my next appointment and I can go back to my regular colour. I know, I am not that adventurous am I. (New profile pic is the fiery red colour that my hair now is .. albeit temporarily). I should have known not to go with 'chestnut' as my hair naturally throws red anyway so in the light this colour is actually a LOT more red than it looks in the pics. It just looks quite dark in the photos taken inside. I didn't expect it to be quite as dark as it turned out.

Just a random pic of me and Lucy, as she was shadowing me all day!

And since I had Maddie's camera at work with me the other day I took a few pics of my desk. I figured I could do a layout for my B.O.M one of these days. Made me realise I should probably tidy up my whiteboard a bit and then take another one ;)

Have a great weekend! Hopefully I will have some crafty projects to upload once I can get time to play. I got lots of new goodies this week that are just begging to be used (stamps, paper, Slice dies etc).
