My New Space :)

Well here it is ... just a few more bits and pieces to do like tidy up the cords and put up my notice boards on the wall behind my compter table (then I will post pics of that wall). But here are some just to give you an idea. I decided after sampling a LOT of colours that I would stick with green, although it is a lot different from the old colour. This new one (called Barley Grass by British Paints) is more lime and a lot 'fresher' than the last room if that makes sense? I have also changed my desk to a taller one which is set at bench height (the legs are adjustable) so that I have the option of standing to work or I can sit on a stool. It's good to have the option as quite often I like to stand and work.
Pics 1 & 2 - before!

Pic 3 - Looking in from the door Pic 4 - my shelves Pic 5 - The opposite wall Pic 6 - My work desk Pic 7 - close up of my wall where I have punches, pencils etc. I will post more pics when I finish the other wall where I have my computer desk. I also have a double closet which houses another bookcase with mags, photo albums etc inside. Now I can go and get it all messy ... that's the best bit!

Just FYI - the vinyl lettering for my wall was purchased from http://www.onceuponadesign.com/

We made it!

Well I still don't have broadband at home ... but should be back online within 5-7 working days (according to Primus!) I am just checking in on hubby's connection so don't have long. Just wanted to let you know we made it safely to Perth and the unpacking is almost finished.

We are slowly settling in, and I am getting used to driving a LOT more than I am used to! It is an hour round trip just to take the girls to school in the morning and an hour and a half to TWO hours in the afternoon including waiting time and traffic. I am hoping they will start getting the bus home after the school holidays and that will save me a lot of time .. I just need to drive 10mins to pick them up from the bus stop which will be much easier.

My craft studio is almost finished. I got it painted on Saturday and spent last night and this morning moving my stuff in. I just need to pick up a small desk for my computer tomorrow and then it will be done ... so stay tuned for photos once I am back online!

Anyway, there are still boxes to unpack so I better get back to it. Have a great week!

My Town ... but not for long!

I am so sad to be leaving Kalgoorlie ... after spending all of my married life here, and raising my children here up until now, it really is home to me. Who would have thought that a girl from Sydney who couldn't wait to get out of here 15 years ago would come to love it so much! Part of me is so excited about moving on to something different, and part of me is heartbroken to be leaving this small town that I have come to love so much.
So today while the kids were spending their last day at school here, I drove around and took a few pics. Nothing exciting, just the roads I drive every day.
Kalgoorlie- Boulder. Population 32,039. When we came here 15 years ago it was around the 25,000 mark.Coming into the main street of town.
The Kalgoorlie Hotel aka 'Judds' pub ... many a night spent here!
The main street ... the clock is part of the old post office building.
The Town Hall ... recently painted pink ... why, I have no idea!
Coming back down the main road from the other direction.
The Exchange Hotel (affectionately called the 'sexchange') Most popular Skimpy pub and also where Gerard has done most of his gigs with the band over the years. And yep,it is pretty much a hole ... but a real icon in town!
Perth ... only 590kms away. Here we come!
And this is what I have to look forward to pretty much the WHOLE way! Yep, a real scenic drive this one. LOL
Bye Bye Kalgoorlie ... I really will miss you! xxx

Gift Cards

Just thought I would share the gift cards that I made to go with the butterfly frames. I had such fun making these (in case you couldn't tell)!

Supplies: Cardstock, corner rounder and stamp from So Many Sayings, both Stampin' Up. Various patterned papers. Butterfly punches are by Martha Stewart.

More Paper Butterflies!

I had so much fun doing my first paper butterfly frame that I made another couple today but in a smaller size. These frames are 11"x9" each, so still a good size. One of them was done using my other Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch (I think it is called the Monarch butterfly?)
This pic just shows the size difference between the first one I did & the smaller one

Paper Butterflies

I have totally been in love with this project since I saw it on Ali Edwards' blog a while ago. Finally I got a chance to put one together - and it was so quick! The longest part was measuring to make sure they were all even. It is hard to see in the photos but the butterflies are mounted on 1/4" pop dots so they stand out quite a bit.
I am now working on a variation of this for Claudia's room ... same sort of thing but with a twist. If it works I will post it ;)
Supplies: Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, various patterned papers, frame from Crazy Clarks.

Missing You ...

Supplies: Stamps: Stampin' Up! (5th Avenue Floral and So Many Sayings), Paper by Bo Bunny, coloured with PrismaColour. Misc: stitching and gemstones.

Beyond annoyed!!

Today Claudia got an honour certificate at school (but no, that is not why I am annoyed).
The reason I am angry is that the teacher didn't feel the need to tell me she was getting one! Apparently the notes never went out and for some reason she couldn't manage to pick up the damn phone and call to tell me!
In the 9 years that my girls have been at school I have NEVER missed them getting a certificate, even when I worked full time. So naturally she got up when her name was called and looked around everywhere for me ... and she was quite teary when she got in the car this afternoon and wanted to know why I didn't come today!! I know it is too late now, but I am going to say something to the teacher on Monday because it is not good enough! The kids only usually get 1 a year each so it is a big deal to them. And especially because next week is her last week at this school before we move, so as Claudia said 'it was a special one'.
Anyway, here is a pic of my baby at home with her certificate. It is hard to read ... but this is what she received it for:
"For the pleasing effort Claudia puts into her story writing. She has a terrific imagination and writes well constructed, entertaining and funny stories. We wish her all the best in her move to Perth. We will miss you Claudia!"

A card by Claudia

I just wanted to share this beautiful card that Claudia made for her teacher. And here is the conversation that accompanied the card regarding the use of stamps ...

Me: Beautiful card honey, who is it for?
Claudia: My teacher.
Me: Why did you use the 'sorry for your loss' stamp ... did something happen?
Claudia: No, I am giving her this card when I leave next week.

I just about pee'd myself! What a sense of humour this girl has! She didn't seem to find it funny though, she acted like it was only natural that she would use that sentiment. After all, what a loss it will be for her teacher when she is gone! LOL

A couple more cards ...

I had the most relaxing day today! I spent the day either sleeping, making cards, or sitting in front of the heater looking at inspirational blogs :) All while wearing my PJ's ... gotta love that! Here are a couple of cards I made in the process.
The stamp on this first card is sooo old ... but I still love it :) I figured it was time to dust him off and ink him up. Supplies: Cardstock in Chocolate Chip, Buckaroo Blue and So Saffron by SU! Paper by Kaiser, Teddy Stamp by PSX, Greeting by Hero Arts, Ink in Chocolate chip. Just added some stitching (surprise surprise!) and some dew drops. I coloured him in with Prismacolour pencils and blended with Gamsol.

Supplies: Card in Black and white by SU! Paper by Crate Paper, Greeting stamp by Verve, Background stamp is from the Snowburst set by SU! and stamped in sahara sand. Just added some stitching and a few gemstones.

Too cute!!

I couldn't resist snapping this photo of Claudia and Coco having some cuddle time in front of the window in the sun this afternoon. The cat woke up after I took the first photo, but she wasn't in a hurry to move ... she is not an overly affection cat but sometimes you can get a real good snuggle out of her.
