Well peeps (always wanted to say that, it sounds so cute when my blogging friend Gretchen says it!) lol I am out of here at five thirty tomorrow morning, heading to the East coast for Christmas and New Year. Things have been crazy busy here getting ready for our holiday, working and also celebrating our youngest daughters graduation from primary school. Please indulge me for a moment

... while I share a few pics of my gorgeous daughter(s).

My youngest one, who is unbelievably going into HIGH SCHOOL next year (how old do I feel?) attended her dinner dance tonight. I can't believe how grown up she looked ... sniff sniff.

Can someone please slow the world down, it is going way too fast for me!

Just Add Ink #47 - Colour Combo

Is it just me or are the weeks going faster and faster the closer we get to Christmas? I just don't seem to have had a spare 5 minutes to myself lately and my to-do list keeps getting longer rather than short!

The only good thing about it being the end of another week, is that it is challenge time again over at Just Add Ink. And this week it is a nice vibrant colour challenge for you!
And here is my card. I made this for my sweet nephew for his recent 6th birthday.
Cardstock: Basic grey, tempting turquoise, daffodil delight
Ink: Basic grey, riding hood red
Stamps: Papertrey Ink
Other: felt, cloud die by PTI, border template by Tim Holtz

JAI46 - Just Add Critters!

Don't you just love that word 'critters'? Well this week over at Just Add Ink the theme was to use a critter of any kind on your project. Unfortunatley I am VERY late with my submission as it was due to be up on the JAI site with all of the other DT projects but life has just been crazy busy lately and I have had absolutely no time to craft at all :( So my apologies!

But better late than never right? Here is my card for this week's challenge. And it's hard to see in the pic by my water and little whale spout are actually quite sparkley thanks to the addition of dazzling diamonds :) The colour is also a bit off, the colouring of the whale is a perfect match to the bermuda bay but has come out a little more 'blue' in the photo.

Stamps: Pun Fun
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Bermuda Bay DSP
Ink: basic black
Other: Paper piercer, stitching, prismacolour pencils, dazzling diamonds, night of navy satin ribbon, pewter hodgepodge.

Just Add Ink Swap Hop

Recently all of the Design Team at Just Add Ink participated in a card swap. So we thought it would be fun to do our own little blog hop so that you could check out all of the cards that were made.

There are 14 stops on the blog hop, but don't worry if you are starting here because you can just continue around in a full circle so you won't miss out on anyone's blog! All you have to do is click the Swap Hop Button at the bottom of my post and you will continue onto the next stop which is Patrice's blog.

And here is the card that I made for the swap (if you are a regular visitor to my blog it may look familiar to you).

JAI45 - Take two!

I had to do some baby swap cards this week and found that this week's sketch over at Just Add Ink was perfect! So here is another (simple) card using this week's challenge sketch. Be sure to pop over and see what eye candy the design team have for you!

Cardstock: pretty in pink, crumb cake, whisper white

Stamps: Baby Steps

Ink: Crumb cake and pretty in pink

Other: dotted embossing folder, stitching, pretty in pink satin ribbon, white cotton lace by Kaiser, nestabilities, clear gemstones

Just Add Ink #45 - Sketch Challenge

Well another week has zoomed right by me and I am happy to report that I am starting to feel human again. This head cold does seem to not want to leave me though.

The end of another week also means a new challenge over at Just Add Ink! And this week it's this great sketch challenge.

And here is my card. To create the beautiful 'frosted' looking snowflakes on my Crumb Cake background I first stamped the images in whisper white craft ink, and then sprinkled it with a mix of equal parts of heat 'n stick powder and dazzling diamonds. Then just heat set with your embossing gun and it's that simple! I also sponged the edge in white craft ink and did the same thing. It looks sooo sparkly in real life!

Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla

Stamps: Dasher by SU!, greeting by Papertrey Ink.

Ink: Crumb Cake, whisper white craft, riding hood red

Other: Riding hood red striped ribbon, dazzling diamonds, button

It's time for another challenge over at Just Add Ink and this week it's a colour challenge, with 'challenge' being the operative word for me!

I really struggled with this one but I don't know if it's because I have been sick all week and struggling to think clearly let alone be creative, or because it really is a tricky one. But after seeing the gorgeous projects that the rest of the DT came up with I am leaning more towards the first reason because nobody else seemed to struggle with it! Anyway here are this week's colours.

And here is my card.
Stamps: All a flutter, Great Friend
Cardstock: chocolate chip, river rock, wild wasabi, whisper white, river rock DSP
Ink: Wild wasabi, chocolate chip, river rock, versamark
Other: vintage wallpaper embossing folder, Rhinestone jewels, chocolate chip satin ribbon, dazzling diamonds mixed with heat & stick, stitching

A quick catch up

Hello blogging friends!

Things have been pretty quiet around here this week as we have had a bit of a sick house. My eldest daughter has had the flu and has developed a nasty throat infection and I have come down with a case of Tonsilitis. So it was off to the Doctors today for some antibiotics for both of us and she will be off school for the rest of the week. I am hoping to at least get 1 day of work in this week but we will see.

This also means I haven't done any stamping for a while but do have a quick card to post that I made last week, but first some good news :)
We finally booked our trip to Sydney for Christmas, so for the first time in 3 years we will spend it with our families. We also managed to book in 5 days on the Gold Coast on the way to Sydney and will get to visit Movie World, Sea World and Wet 'n Wild World. We can't wait since this is our FIRST holiday since we were married in 1994, and the first one the kids have ever been on. So to say it is long overdue is an understatement. LOL

Anyway, here is my card and I am now off to sip some hot tea and lay on the couch. Goodnight!
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, whisper white
Stamps: Sentiment is Papertrey Ink, the swirl used for the ornaments is from an old set and I don't know who it's from.
Ink: Versamark
Other: Red embossing powder, silver thread, circle punches, riding hood red ribbon.

Just Add Christmas to an Inkspirations colour challenge!

I thought Makeesha's colour challenge this week was just perfect for some traditional Christmas cards and so I thought I would join it with the Just Add Ink challenge to create this card. I can't take credit for the layout design as I cased a card that was done by the super talented Dawn McVey (I just LOVE her style!)
Stamps: all by Papertrey Ink
Ink: Riding Hood Red and Old Olive
Cardstock: Kraft, Riding Hood Red (I didn't have any real red left!), Old Olive and White
Other: Kaiser red pearls for the tree, Dies from Papertrey Ink, Old Olive satin ribbon, chocolate chip marker for the tree stump

JAI43 - Just Add Christmas

It's challenge time again over at Just Add Ink, and with Christmas merely weeks away it's time to start working on some cards. That is why this week's challenge is perfect to get us all inspired and in the holiday stamping spirit. Be sure to pop over and see what the girls have created this week, I am sure you love them just as much as I did!

For my project this week I decided to make a 3D item. The star box template is by Lauren Meader and is perfect for gift wrapping your pressies this year. To get the glittery image on the box I stamped my image in vanilla craft ink and then mixed some heat & stick powder with some dazzling diamonds and applied it to the image before heat setting it.
Stamps: Welcome Christmas, Snow Burst
Cardstock: cherry cobbler, old olive, very vanilla, Holly Jolly DSP
Ink: Cherry cobbler, old olive, vanilla craft ink
Other: riding hood red striped ribbon, button, heat & stick powder mixed with dazzling diamonds.

Some NEW Taylor Swift ... just for a change :)

I just wanted to say thankyou for all of the wonderful comments that were left when I shared some of my girls you tube videos on my blog recently. Neither of them have had any formal singing lessons but they have a huge love of music and they really appreciate your words of encouragement.

So on that note I thought I would share a quick one that Madi had me record tonight. It is the new Taylor Swift song "Mean" from her latest album. And I am so proud of her for taking what is quite a boppy country song and doing her own acoustic arrangement of it. I really love it and so I hope you enjoy it too!

Pink Starfish

If this card looks familiar, it is because I have done a blue/green version of it before. So when I had to make a 4th birthday card for my cousins little girl I thought I would recreate those cute starfish in pink and red (her favourite colours).
And this is the inside:
Stamps: Fishy Friends, teeny tiny sentiments, fishy wheel, full of life for inside sentiment
Cardstock: Real Red, Pink Passion, pixie pink
Ink: Basic Black, pretty in pink, real red, pink passion
Other: dotted embossing folder, stitching, prismacolour pencils, scallop edge border punch

Wow ... the weeks are just whizzing by. Christmas will be here before we know it, now that's scary!! And the end of another week means it's time for another challenge over at Just Add Ink. And this week it's a great sketch challenge.

Here is my card, using the gorgeous Aviary stamp set. This would have to be one of my favourite new stamp sets, it's just so cute :)

Stamps: Aviary, Teeny Tiny Tags
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Ink: Early Espresso, cherry cobbler, daffodil delight
Other: Early Espresso striped grosgrain ribbon, brads, tiny tag punch, Big Shot, vintage wallpaper embossing folder, button.

A few more Christmas cards

I am slowly making progress on my Christmas cards. These ones are very quick and simple and I managed to make all three of them in just over an hour. Gotta love that!

Although I should add, that I don't love them all because I just feel they are a little too plain for my liking. Except for the wreath card, for some reason I really like the white space on that one and the bold greeting so I will probably make several of these ones before Christmas :)
Stamps: Welcome Christmas, Curly Cute, Tags Till Christmas
Cardstock: Riding hood red, old olive, cherry cobbler. HollyJolly DSP.
Ink: Cherry cobbler, old olive, riding hood red, versamark
Other: ribbon, buttons, red glitter, embossing powder, decorative label punch

I don't even drink coffee

And yet for some reason I was inspired to use this cute stamp for some swap cards I made recently. I think it was because I know a few of the ladies who would be receiving them are huge fans of the stuff, 1 in particular (not mentioning names 'cause you know who you are ... Gardenia!) LOL
Stamps: Morning Cup
Cardstock: Riding hood red, basic black, whisper white, Love Letter DSP
Ink: Ranger Black Archival ink, riding hood red
Other: perfect polka dot embossing folder, sewing, prismacolour pencils, modern label punch

Cherry On Top Blog Award

This is the second blog award I received this week, from another online buddy Sue. Thanks so much Sue! And there are a few rules with this one, and these are:
1. Thank the person that gave it to you. Thanks Sue!!
2. Post it with pride on your blog. Done that :)
3. List 3 things you love about yourself. Hmmm now this is the hard part! Might have to come back to this question! Nothing is coming to me at the moment.
4. Post a picture you love.
Another hard one ... there are so many ;) So instead of going with a pic of the girls (because I love EVERY pic of my girls!) I thought I would go with a funny one I snapped of Coco in Madison's guitar case. You just never know where you are going to find this kitty!
4. Pass this award onto 5 other blogging friends :)

BBFF Blog Award

I have been very lucky and recevied not one but TWO blog awards this week! This is the first one, from my dear online friend Tania . Thanks Tania!! There doesn't seem to be any specific questions to answer with this award, so I will just pass it on to some of my other online blogging friends. It's always hard to choose who to pass it onto since there are so many wonderful blogs that I visit ALL the time for inspiration. So I will start by not picking anyone that already received it from Tania ;)

And so I am going to pass this award on to these wonderfully talented ladies:

Be sure to go and check out there blogs, I am sure you will find a HEAP of inspiration there!

JAI41 - Just Add Birthdays!

It's time for another challenge over at Just Add Ink and this week's theme is Birthdays! I went with a fun, bright kids card for this challenge since my daughter needed a card for a party she was attending. It is hard to tell but the presents on the blue card have been stamped in versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder.
And if you haven't checked out what the DT have made this week, be sure to pop over and take a look. There are some really gorgeous projects!
Stamps: Happy Moments & Party This Way
Cardstock: Tempting turquoise, melon mambo, whisper white, basic black. Melon Mambo DSP
Ink: versamark, basic black, melon mambo
Other: clear embossing powder, paper piercer, melon mambo ribbon, prismacolour pencils, button

Another Ikea find

Today I went to my happy place ... aka Ikea! And whilst there (after enjoying a delicious serve of Swedish meatballs) I came across some cute little wire baskets which I thought would be great for pencils.

When I got them home I found that they fitted beautifully in the top of my Stampin' Up! Ink Pad Caddy and so that is where they now reside, holding my collection of mini glitter bottles among other things. One basket holds what was in two sections of the caddy previously giving me extra room for other stuff! AND they were only $4.95 for two of them ... bargain!
After my little visit to Ikea I took my daughter Madison on a girls night out and we went to the movies to see 'Life as we know it'. A very predictable but totally enjoyable chick flick, and a great way to spend my Saturday night.

Ink: Certainly celery, bashful blue, pink pirouette, versamark
Other: clear embossing powder, blushing bride ribbon, oval punch, paper piercer, decorative label punch, white string

Getting organised

Well since I am trying to get organised a little bit earlier with my Christmas cards this year, I have set up a little 'Christmas Station' on my craft desk.

I did this last year and found it very helpful. So I thought I would share this with you in case it is something you may find useful as well. And please feel free to share any great organisational ideas that you have because I am always looking for good ideas that will make me a little more efficient! lol

Anyway, all I really do is gather all of my Christmas supplies together in one place so that while I am working on my cards I don't have to go searching for different bits & pieces. In addition to the little tray (which is from Ikea in case you were wondering) I also have my stash of Christmas papers, rubons, embossing folders and punches etc in a box next to it so they are also within easy reach.

In this tray I have stamps, ribbons, buttons, embellishments, glitter, little bells etc.

The Christmas countdown is on!

... and since this year I am actually going to try and get more than 5 cards sent out, I figured I had better start now! Plus I also want to make a big batch of cards to donate to the RSPCA which they can sell from their office with all proceeds going directly to the RSPCA Animal Shelter.

Today's very simple card uses up stash from last year, so the paper and rub-ons are retired Stampin' Up! product. And not a stamp in sight on this one!
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Holiday Lounge DSP
Other: Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon, Merry & Bright rub ons, a little bell, paper piercer, and scallop edge punch

Just Add Ink #39

It's challenge time again over at Just Add Ink, and last week we highlighted Pink Ribbon Day which is coming up on the 25th October. But October is also Anxiety and Depression Awareness Month. So to coincide with this very important cause, this week's challenge is

Just Add Blue

There is also an (optional) second part to this week's challenge. And you don't even have to tell us all about it in your entry post (but you can if you want!) and that second part is to RAK (give or send) the card you create for Just Add Blue to someone you care about.
A RAK or Random Act of Kindness is when you do something nice for someone for no particular reason, so it's not for their birthday, or Christmas etc. Just... Because!

It doesn't have to be someone who's suffering depression, or someone who's struggling. It could be someone who makes you laugh, or someone you've been out of touch with for a while. Maybe it's someone who'd just like your card! Anyone! The idea is to make your card, and then send it!

And for more information on this very important topic, visit the Beyond Blue website at beyondblue.org.au

Oh and before I forget, here is my card for this week!
Stamps: Engraved Greetings
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Whisper White
Other: stitching, rhinestones, marina mist satin ribbon, vintage wallpaper embossing folder, nestabilities

What a difference a bow makes

Thanks Karen! I don't know why I didn't think to put it there in the first place, it's so obvious now. LOL I tried some white satin ribbon but it was too 'heavy' if you know what I mean, but this light organza one seems to work a little better.
