A visit to Ikea ... for something different ;)

I went to Ikea today and picked up a few copies of the new catalogue ... what do you think?
Hehehe ... they are my daughters on the cover. Cool huh?

They had a fundraiser for Heart Kids and for $2 you could get your pic taken and they put the cover onto a catalogue for you. How could I resist? And it is for a great charity after all (so I got 4 copies for the grandma's and a friend). Tomorrow I have to take Miss C back with her BFF so they can get one together. And while I am there I am picking up another small desk for my room :)

Inspiration is everywhere!

While out shopping today I found this really cute cover for my iPhone. The first thing I saw when I looked at it was inspiration for a card or scrapbooking layout! LOL I am sure I am not the only one that does this right? I just love the layers of butterflies, the swirls, the colours ... there is so much to take out of this one design, don't you think?

Anyway, I thought I would share it with you because you never know, it may inspire you too!

Once I have had a chance to make something, I will come back and post it here on my blog. And if by some chance you find yourself inspired, please post a link to your creation here in the comments so that I can see it!

JAI36 - Sketch Challenge

Well, it appears another week has zoomed right on by me. A lot has happened since I last checked in here, and I am now officially a working girl again! It all happened so quickly, I went in last Friday to 'see a man about a job' as they say, and on Tuesday I was on the train heading into the city for my first day as Office Manager of a Geological contracting company. Isn't it funny how life can change in the blink of an eye!

So with hubby away, my new job, and 315 metres of ribbon to cut, sort and bag for a ribbon swap I am in, it has meant that I have had no time to stamp all week :( I did get some new stuff from Stampin' Up! this week though so I am hoping to get to play lots on the weekend.

The girls also start school holidays this week (for 2 weeks) so I will be working around that, and looking after my friend's boys for a little while next week as well. But as long as I get some stamping time in, and get to hang out with the girls I will be one happy camper.

Now onto the reason for my post ... this week's sketch over at Just Add Ink. I have gone bright this week with a colour combination of tempting turquoise and melon mambo, although it's not quite as bright in reality as it looks in the pic ;) I also flipped the sketch to fit the idea I had for the card as well.

The rest of the DT have made some gorgeous creations this week, so be sure to pop over and check them out!

Stamps: Very Vintage Wheel, Every Moment
Cardstock: Whisper White, melon mambo, tempting turquoise
Ink: Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black
Other: Felt, Beautiful Butterflies Big Shot Die, Dotted embossing folder, Melon Mambo ribbon, buttons.

JAI35 Just Add ... Sympathy

Yep ... another week just about done and dusted. I can't believe how quickly this year is flying by! The only good thing about the fact that it is the end of another week is that it means it is challenge time again over at Just Add Ink. And this week's challenge is to make a sympathy card. To be honest, I was a little concerned that my card may be a little 'bold' for the subject but the more I look at it, the more I think it may be alright.

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, riding hood red, very vanilla. Riding hood red DSP.
Stamps: Thoughts and prayers

Misc: Riding Hood red ribbon, lattice embossing folder, flower die cuts by PTI, pearls.

Two challenges, one card!

I have been on a roll, this is my third card for today! To see the others, just scroll down :) For this card I combined this weeks sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping and the colour challenge from Crazy for Challenges.
Stamps: Branch Out, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Cardstock: Kraft (aka Crumb Cake), Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Riding Hood Red DSP
Ink: riding hood red, basic black and sahara sand

And here are the challenges if you would like to play along!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #85

Here is another challenge card, this time for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. I think this card is a bit 'plain' and I wish I had added some stitching or something but I don't have the energy to pull it apart and re-do it. lol
Cardstock: chocolate chip, crumb cake, whisper white, baja breeze. Parisian Breeze DSP
Stamps: One of a kind
Other: Owl punch, scallop border punch by Martha Stewart
Ink: Chocolate chip, baja breeze

And here is the sketch if you would like to play along!

Colour Throwdown #110

I have finally had a chance to sit down and stamp in what feels like forever!! And so since my mojo seems to have got bored waiting for me and wandered off, I figured a few challenges might get me going again.
The first challenge I decided to have a play with was this weeks Colour (or color depending on where you live) Throwdown combination. And here is my card. I decided to use the new Every Moment stamp set which I received at the Perth SU! Regionals on the weekend and I coloured the image with Prisma pencils.
I also used one of the SU! impressions plates on the grey cardstock and it is a bit hard to see in the photo. I love the subtle indentation that the impression plates leave, it is much softer than the embossing folders.
Stamps: Every Moment
Cardtock: Rich Razzleberry, Basic Grey, Whisper White
DSP: Provocraft
Ink: Basic Black
Other: Paper piercer, oval punch, rhinestones, prisma pencils, ribbon, Big Shot, Impressions Plate

My regional swap cards

Now that the Perth Regionals are over, I thought I would share the swaps that I made. I ended up doing three different swaps - two cards and a 3D Christmas ornament. And in return I got some amazing swaps from many talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators.

It was so great to catch up with my upline Leonie and one of her other downlines Deanne, who both came up from Kalgoorlie as well as other stamping friends I have met before but never get to catch up with. And it was wonderful to finally meet some more of my online friends, including three of my fellow DT members from Just Add Ink! And hopefully I won't have to wait until next years Regionals to meet up with them again ;)

Anyway, before I fall asleep at my keyboard I will post my pics and go and catch up on some much needed sleep. Getting up at 6am on a Saturday should be illegal! LOL

If this first card looks familiar it is because it was based on my challenge card for this week's JAI colour challenge, and uses the same layout from a card I posted earlier last week :) A hybrid I guess you would call it!
Stamps: Baroque motifs, sweet celebrations, perfect punches
Cardstock: pretty in pink, whisper white, crumb cake, so saffron, certainly celery

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #84

Hello! Hope you are having a great week so far. I spent the morning at the RSPCA doing my volunteer work and was in the cattery for the morning. I was *this* close to bringing home a new kitty, but I don't really feel like going through a divorce right now so I had to leave the gorgeous thing there. LOL The trouble is, every week there is at least one (although usually more!) that I would love to bring home with me. But sadly, it's just not possible.

Anyway, I just have a quick card share today for this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge over at Karen's blog. I made this on Sunday but have only just got around to posting it. I am frantically trying to get some swaps done for the Perth Regionals this weekend. This will be my first time swapping and I am always worried that people will not like my cards and so I haven't done them before. This time I thought I would have a go and have so far done a couple of different swap cards to take.

Anyway, here is the great sketch that Karen put up this week.
And here is my card. Supplies:
Cardstock: Chocolate chip, pretty in pink, whisper white, certainly celery
Paper: A walk in the park patterned paper
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Greeting and donuts by Taylored Expressions.
Other: Martha Stewart border punch, beads, stitching, modern label punch, Espresso dimensional pearls, prismacolour pencils.

JAI33 - Sketch Challenge

The girls have a great sketch challenge for you this week over at Just Add Ink. So if you want to play along, pop on over to JAI and follow the instructions. We would love to see your submissions! Here is the sketch for this week.
This week I have made two cards using this sketch. They are both quite different in colour and theme, but I think this sketch works great for both of them! The first one is a bright kids birthday card. Supplies:
Cardstock: pumpkin pie, whisper white, tempting turquoise, real red, paper from the Hoppy Memories scrapbooking kit
Ink: Real Red, tempting turquoise
other: Paper piercer, gemstones, white twine, nestabilities template

The second is a card I made for my hubby for our 16th Wedding Anniversary which we are celebrating today. I tried to make it less 'girly' by changing the ribbon for some scalloped edge strips of coordinating cardstock. He doesn't like too much 'stuff' on his cards. LOL
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Very Vanilla
Stamps: Greeting by PTI, background stamp from the Friends 24/7 set by SU!
Ink: Not quite navy
Other: Scallop edge border punch, nestabilities, gemstones
