Just Add Ink #244 - Sketch Challenge

I cannot believe that this time next week I will be on a plane heading to Vietnam for Christmas! Until then I have a very long to do list (which I'm sure you can all relate to) and about 30 Christmas cards to get made and sent.

For now though, I have a great sketch challenge to share with you, from Just Add Ink.

For my card I used the cute new polar bear stamps and dies from My Favorite Things.
I kind of made a bit of a contradiction with my greetings thought didn't I. 'Warm Wishes' combined with 'Have a cool day'. Didn't think that out too well! Oh well, it was for my little nephew who I'm sure did not even notice!

Supplies:
Stamps and Dies: My Favorite Things
Inks: Memento black ink
Other: Cardstock from SU!, Misc DSP, Copic Markers

Hello and welcome to another challenge over at Seize The Birthday! And this week we have a fun theme for you.

To create the leaves for my card this week, I have used distress inks and water to create the backgrounds and then cut the leaves using some die-namics from My Favorite Things. I had a little of the paper left over so I have added a strip behind the main panel for contrast.

linen impressions plate from Papertrey Ink
Cardstock/Ink: Stampin' Up!

Playing with Bokeh backgrounds

Well look at that, I'm here to share a card that is not for a challenge!  It's been a while since I stamped just for fun, as there has been so much going on at home and my craft room has been getting very neglected.

So yesterday I decided to have a play and try a technique that I have been seeing on Pinterest for a while, and on other people's blogs. And that is Bokeh backgrounds. I found a few great tutorials on YouTube and just took it from there.  I need to work on getting my white circles a little more whiter though, as they are hard to see on some of the samples I made.

And let me tell you, these cards are tricky to photograph because the camera seems to have trouble focusing on the soft background.

Here is my first card. It is just a small sized gift card.

I added a splattering of perfect pearls mist when I was done to add a bit of shine.

Supplies:
Stamps: Leaves are from Papertrey Ink, and the sentiment is from Avery Elle.
Inks: For the background I used Tim Holtz distress inks in salty ocean and shabby shutters, white ink is from Colorbox.
Coloured card stock from Stampin' Up! Watercolour paper by Ranger
Other: Perfect Pearls Mist

And here is my second card. Just added a sentiment and some sequins to my bokeh panel and mounted it on white card. So simple!

Supplies:
Cardstock: Watercolour paper and white card
Ink: Watercolour paints, Ranger archival black ink
Other: Sequins

Welcome to another Just Add Ink challenge - Just Add Texture! There are many ways to add texture to your projects.  Whether it be embossing, ribbons or embellishments. We hope you can use this challenge to create and share with us over on the JAI blog.

For my card I started by adding pearl embossing powder to a snowflake background stamp. I also covered the snow on the ground by covering my die cut pieces with the same embossing powder.

Supplies:
All stamps and dies by My Favorite Things
Cardstock: Stampin' Up!
Other: Copic markers, glitter, embossing powder

Seize The Birthday Challenge - Monochromatic Orange

Welcome to another great challenge over at Seize the Birthday!

Our "Toppings" option this time is...
Monocromatic- Orange

Just remember to keep it a Birthday Theme!

If your not a toppings kinda person, well.....you can just

stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!

The choice is yours!

I have made two monochromatic cards for this week's challenge.

This first one is probably less monochromatic as it has a lot of white space on it. I embossed the background using a stencil from My Favorite Things.

Supplies:
Stamps: Fox by My Favorite Things, Greeting from Stampin' Up!
Dies/Stencils: My Favorite Things
Other: Copic Markers, Pumpkin Pie cardstock

My second card is more orange and probably suits the topping a little better, although it is my least favourite. I created the embossed panel using an MFT stencil, texture paste and watercolours.

Supplies:
Stamps/Stencils: My Favorite Things
Other: Texture Paste by Ranger, watecrolours, ribbon from Stampin' Up!

Season's Greetings - Just Add Ink Sketch Challenge

I'm back, this time with another card using the great sketch over at Just Add Ink this week. I made this card on my first attempt at playing with the sketch and wasn't going to post it as I wasn't sure whether I liked it or not. But decided why not, since quite often the things I don't like other people do and vice versa :)
I don't know what it was I didn't like about it, maybe that the wreath is too big for the corner and the card looks so unbalanced.

Supplies:
Stamps: Wreath from Stampin' Up!, Sentiment from Technique Tuesday
Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Paper from Graphic 45
Other: rhinestones

Seize The Birthday Challenge - Washi Tape

Welcome to another great challenge over at Seize the Birthday!
And thanks to everyone who played along last time!

Our "Toppings" option this time is...
" Washi tape"

Just remember to keep it a Birthday Theme!

If your not a toppings kinda person, well.....you can just

stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!

The choice is yours!

For my card I have layered some wash tape over card stock and then used a word die from
My Favorite Things to cut out the 'Happy' before attaching to my card. To get the dimension I also cut the die from some foam tape as I find that the easiest way to raise intricate die cuts.
I also added some Wink of Stella glitter pen to the blue strip at the bottom of the card
which looks very pretty in real life :)

I also used the extra scarps to make a more simple version with an embossed background.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Soft Sky and white
Stamps and Dies: My Favorite Things
Other: Sequins, Washi Tape, Impressions plate by Papertrey Ink, Wink of Stella clear glitter pen

Just Add Ink Challenge #236 - Inspiration Challenge

Hello! It's time for a fun Inspiration Challenge over at Just Add Ink this week and I love this image, there are so many different ideas that come from it.

My first instinct was to go with the peacock theme but since I didn't have any peacock or feather stamps I decided to use the cake and colours as my inspiration.

To add more interest to the sentiment I stamped it first in Island Indigo ink and then again in Cool Caribbean to create a shadow effect.

Supplies:
Stamps: My Favorite Things
Cardstock/Ink: Stampin' Up! Night of Navy, Old Olive and some gold card
Other: Dies by MFT, Flowers by Kaiser, Stitching, Impression plate by Papertrey Ink.
